Meet Jenny Harris | Low Histamine Diet Food Blooger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenny, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
In my mid-40s, I was diagnosed with Vestibular Migraine. While there are many potential triggers, I quickly discovered that one of my biggest was histamine in food. In the beginning, I had to follow a very strict low histamine diet—and I still do when I have flare-ups — but I found it incredibly difficult to find recipes that were truly low histamine.
After trying a few recipes that were labeled “low histamine” but actually included ingredients that weren’t compatible with a low histamine diet, I decided to create my own TRULY LOW HISTAMINE recipes.
I launched my food blog to share these recipes, so others like me would have a reliable, safe space to turn to when starting (or continuing) a low histamine journey—a place where you can nourish with confidence.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my food blog, Truly Low Histamine, in 2024 as a place for people living with histamine intolerance and vestibular migraine to find trustworthy, compassionate, and practical guidance. I wanted to break things down and make life with these conditions feel less confusing and hopeless. To offer a space where others could feel seen, understood, and supported.
Through sharing my personal journey and the recipes that have helped me heal, I hope to help others in a meaningful way. This blog is my way of turning struggle into support and of helping others find comfort, clarity, and confidence while living with histamine intolerance and vestibular migraine. This is what I am most proud of. It’s the kind of blog I wish I had found early on in my journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question because anyone who lives in LA knows we have done this 100 times over, and we each have our own special itinerary that we default to. Here’s mine
Day 1 – Dinner at Musso & Frank and an evening at The Magic Castle
Day 2 – Hike through Charmlee Wilderness Park
Day 3 – Rodeo Drive for window shopping
Day 4 – A visit to Paradise Cove and lunch at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe
Day 5 – No trip to LA is complete with out visit to the Santa Monica Pier
Day 6 – Hollywood Sign Hike
Day 7 – Shoreline Village and The Aquarium of the Pacific

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My food blog was born from a very personal health journey—learning to live with and manage vestibular migraine. It was the healing I experienced that inspired me to start this blog and help others who might still be searching for answers.
That’s why I have to give a shoutout to the doctor who helped me heal: Dr. Pearce at the Dizzy and Vertigo Institute of Los Angeles. She provided a clear diagnosis, created a treatment plan that truly worked, and, through her knowledge and compassionate guidance, helped me uncover my triggers and make the lifestyle changes that led to real healing.
Now, living symptom-free, I felt called to share what I’ve learned—so that others navigating similar struggles can find hope, support, and recipes they can truly trust.
