Meet Jenny Huang | Lifestyle Blogger & Product Lead

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Huang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenny, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and later moved with my family to Highland Park and eventually Lincoln Heights. Not having a lot of financial resources growing up, I was and am extremely grateful for the free resources available in the community that helped get me college-ready and eventually start my undergraduate journey at UCLA. These organizations not only helped me prepare academically, but those who volunteered served as mentors and role models. These experiences colored my perception of the world and have inspired me to want to continually give back in any way, shape, or form. I currently work at a non-profit organization and am actively participating in mentorship through work and school. I’m also pursuing my MBA at UCLA and now that I’m on summer break, it’s freed up time for me to volunteer at local organizations.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Currently, I am the Associate Director of Product at a non-profit healthcare organization. In this role, I manage a small team, lead design projects, and run research tests, all of which contribute to creating a seamless web experience for our users. What sets me apart is my deep commitment to our organization’s mission. Beyond healthcare, we extend our services to affordable housing, free and affordable groceries, identity groups, and more. Being part of an organization that gives so much back to the community fills me with pride.
Professionally, I am proud of my continuous growth and learning. Balancing my new position while starting my first year in business school last year has been a significant achievement. However, this journey wasn’t easy. Adapting to new responsibilities was initially daunting, as it forced me outside of my comfort zone a lot. But overcoming the learning curve taught me a lot of patience and persistence. These experiences have taught me valuable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of continuous self-improvement.
What I want the world to know about me and my story is that growth often comes from stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing new challenges. As you continually grow and stay true to yourself as you work towards the better version of yourself, your success and happiness radiate outwards and can inspire others to strive towards their goals. My journey reflects a commitment to personal and professional development, and I hope to inspire others to pursue their goals with the same determination and passion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Los Angeles for a week, I’d plan a diverse itinerary showcasing the city’s best spots and some of my favorites. We’d start with coffee at some of my favorite coffee spots like Maru Coffee and Camel, followed by a delicious brunch at places like The Perch and Great White. Our days would include visits to The Broad Museum, LACMA, and Griffith Observatory, along with shopping at Melrose Trading Post and The Grove. We’d explore the Venice Canals, Abbot Kinney Boulevard, and the Santa Monica Pier, and relax on Santa Monica Beach. Evenings would include dining at restaurants like Bestia, Cento, and Izakaya Osen, with drinks at The Bungalow and 1212. Other places we’d check out include Rodeo Drive, El Matador Beach, and the Getty Center, ensuring a week filled with LA’s vibrant culture, cuisine, and scenic beauty.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shoutout to my family for always being my biggest supporters. I love my family and closest friends (you all know who you are) for being there for me at my highest highs and lowest lows.
