Meet Jensen Victoria | Licensed Esthetician & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jensen Victoria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jensen, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I knew I wanted to start my own business because it offered the opportunity for massive growth, income, and flexibility. At many places I had previously worked I found myself thinking of ways I would do things differently, or the aesthetic I would personally go for, and what I would offer. I always put myself in the shoes of the owner of the business I worked for and yearned for the opportunity to execute my own vision of what success looks like.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I got where I am today from 7 years of practice and experience. I even took a year off from my esthetician career due to burnout and a lack of boundaries with my clientele. Taking the time, and going back to working for another person gave me a whole new appreciation for the career I had and I came back stronger. Through talk therapy and my spirituality I can happily say I have overcome much of what I felt was holding me down before. The ability to recognize the part I played in my own life gave me the strength to take back my power and I once again felt the courage to open my own spot. Some advice I would give to anyone wanting to be an esthetician and open their own studio would be to never compare yourself to another esthetician, there’s room for all of us to succeed. Also, be realistic about the hours you want to work and amount of clients you want to take on, it’s so easy to feel overwhelmed, but there are ways to avoid it. I am proud of my brand, Flower Waxing Company because I walk into work every day and I see myself, my creations, and my vibe all over. I get the opportunity to share parts of myself and attract my dream clientele.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the nearest bar or restaurant with live music and great bands. Probably check out the coast, go on a hike, or take an art class!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A close, close friend of mine. I was a booth renter at the salon she owned for a few years. She experienced the ups and downs of the industry and working with a clientele, and lovingly shared her wisdom throughout my times of questioning myself and if I was truly cut out to be an entrepreneur in the beauty industry.
