Meet Jeremiah Caleb | Actor, Author, Activist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremiah Caleb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremiah, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want those I leave behind to think of me as a “father to many.”
In this stage of my life, this is what I have come to believe is my life calling. Looking back, I see that much of my life’s journey has organically led me here. First, I have the privilege of being the biological father of a rather magical little boy. Then there are my god-children, a role I take most seriously, the children we sponsor with education through the Caleb Hope Foundation. However, I have also found this sense of calling to be relevant as the owner of a small business. and as an actor/writer. My life’s work has richer meaning when I look at it as an opportunity to mentor others and watch them learn and rise up to make an impact with their own stories.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a storyteller. In college I got the acting bug. I moved to NYC following my college graduation to study at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy. I dreamed of getting lost to countless characters on the broadway stage, creating laughter on a sitcom stage, and making movies that tugged at the heart strings of the viewer. I threw myself into my career and held on to the dream at all cost. It was never easy. I was always so so close, and yet still so far from reach. Now, two decades later, I still hold on to that dream and a hope that one day, my turn will come to soar further than I have ever had the chance to before. The more I try and wait, the more I want it. On some days I yearn for it so much I ache within.
However, somewhere along the way, I made a decision move my focus on being a man for others. My dreams may or may not come to fruition. But in the meantime, I don’t want to waste valuable time focusing on what I don’t have have. Instead, I wanted to take what I have learned, all the resources at my fingertips, and the life experiences I have earned, and use them to lift up others around me. Perhaps I could be play a part in the success of others.
That is the very vision and heartbeat behind both CHF and CSN. We exist not to build a great legacy, but to be faithful with the time awarded to us and to serve. I want my employees and my adopted children to know that I have been there in the same struggles. Heck, I am STILL there sometimes. I see them, and I stand with them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start with breakfast, the best meal of the day, by the Pacific ocean as the sun rose and energized our bodies. We would then go on long hikes up the Malibu mountains. We would fill our souls with the magic of nature and drink deeply of our youth. In the evening we would rent a convertible and drive through the streets of LA to take in the lights of the city. The best views would be at the Griffith Observatory with a view of the stars and the lights of a vibrant city of dreams.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My late father, the Rev. Kris Caleb.
He passed when I was barely twenty-one, and therefore lived more than half my life without his physical pressence. And yet so much of who he was has has impacted my outlook on life, my deep sense of compassion for the the less fortunate, my life’s work and my growing desire to be a man for others. His name Caleb means “to be in humble service to others”. When I began the Caleb Hope Foundation, and most recently the Caleb Staffing Network, it seemed only appropriate to name these entities after him.
