Meet Jeremy Berger | Illustrator & Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Berger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I was a misfit pretty much all through school. With the exception of being somewhat interested in a couple areas such as history and creative writing, I just did not have much interest in school and didn’t believe I was good at much until I took my first art class in 9th grade. I seem to naturally excel in the class and finally felt like I was good at something..and I liked making stuff.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In my experience pursuing a career as “professional” creative was about the opposite of easy. Fortunate for me, I had people that supported me through the journey (like mom). Without them, I don’t know if I could have done it. Over the last 10 years I have built a creative studio that focuses on branding and identity systems, rooted in illustration and has helped shape the creative visions of companies and brands for which I am extremely proud of. Through this journey, I learned to persevere, stay true to myself and try my best to enjoy the ride.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hopefully, my best friend brought his motorcycle..if he didn’t, we’d go rent one because I believe the best way to see this city and all that it’s offerings is on a motorcycle. We would start early in the morning and hit Kanan Road. Once we are on Kanan, we take that all the way west to PCH. After getting dumped on PCH we had to Neptunes Net where we’d each enjoy a platter of fried seafood, and a tall boy. After that, we’d turn around take PCH back south until we hit Sunset Boulevard. We’d hop on Sunset and take that all the way to the Sunset Strip. From there, we’d probably stop in at the Rainbow Bar & Grill and take in the history of that section of the strip.. and then I’d probably try to talk him into getting a tattoo on the strip and see what happens next..That’s my ideal LA day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I gotta give a big shoutout to my momma! As a creative in our society it seems like you are met with so many Nay-saying and negativity regarding pursuing a career in the arts. My mom was one of the only people that understood that I was meant to be an artist. She really believed that that’s what I was put on this earth to do. Having that positive reinforcement was huge. Without her guidance, I would absolutely not be where I am or who I am today.
