Meet Jermaine Stegall | Composer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jermaine Stegall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jermaine, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Initially I didn’t think of being a composer as creating a buisness, however a lot of what we all do as creatives falls into a category of being an entrepreneur and therefore very much related to owning a buisness.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So, my main outlet for creativity has been creating music scores for film and television for the past 20(+) years. I compose the musical underscore for what one might hear in a film or television show and it’s be challenging, and really fun also. I’ve really seen more and more that being honest when creating and sharing work, it really rings truthful and is ultimately more satisfying.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I tend to enjoy movies, so I’d likely find a fun local movie theater to see a film at as well as perhaps make them a customized meal. Maybe BBQ something fun that has marinated for a good while and find some sides and go from there!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
At this point, I’ll give a shoutout to my wife Karen. The one I call the “artist” of our family who really keeps an accountability reminder and honesty reminder in my whole process. I feel like I don’t even want to share work with her that isn’t honest. She really brings that out of my process and there really is a trust there!
