We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerome Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerome, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks played a huge role in my life/career. Without taking risks I wouldn’t meet the people I have met nor been in the rooms. I started doing comedy as a way to get out the house and definitely didn’t expect for me to get as far as I have. If you don’t take risk you don’t have reward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a comedian and podcaster. I started standup comedy back in 2019 and haven’t looked back. My comedy originally was me telling random jokes that weren’t my voice. During the lockdown and a few bad shows I realized that I have to speak on the things that I know from family, work, dating and observations. Comedy is about realism and the person I gravitated to as far as realism and observation was Jerry Seinfeld. The lockdown forced me to write and get creative with virtual shows that have no crowd so you don’t even know if the jokes are good and if someone was laughing it literally sounded like a distorted robot.

I started podcasting as a passion project meaning that I use my podcast which is called No I.D. was created so I can learn from different creatives on their journeys. The lesson I have learned from comedy and podcasting is that we all have a story to tell and just need need an outlet.

I want people to know about myself is that regardless of where I am at I’m always having fun.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week long trip first would be a nice walk around Mt trash more, The venue on 35th street on Mondays for the open mic and Thursdays for performer’s Playground. Tuesday would be the norva or Granby theater and the weekend would be the funnybone in va beach or richmond

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The people that have a part in my story would be my parents Deborah & Jerome Davis. Literally without them literally there would be no me. My parents push challenge and support till this day. The organization that supports me as well would be The Venue on 35th Street ( Performer’s Playground) where I can actually perform and practice my craft every Thursday
