We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Ernst and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesse, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
“Work-life balance” is always an interesting topic of conversation. Often it is used as an excuse to work more, make more, or to justify time invested in something one is passionate about. However, what I have determined for myself and for my family is that we are looking for Life balance first and then working to create that freedom instead of having a work schedule and looking for times to get away. A phrase that my wife and I have adopted and live by is “Work to live, don’t live to work” and this couldn’t be more true. What it comes down to is priorities and knowing my “WHY” which for me is Faith, Family, Freedom, and Impact.
The idea of work-life balance really impacts that Freedom piece and it takes mega intentionality to create a life you love. Figuring out what is important to you and then working backwards from there is the best way I know to create this life that I love. For instance, when I started my business I decided I wanted to work extra hard Monday – Thursday so that I could have freedom to be with my family. Freedom to work from anywhere, freedom to have 2-3 meals each day with my wife and daughter, and freedom to say no to clients who wished to violate these boundaries. The challenge comes when I could make more money, but money is just a tool to aid in the freedom to have time with my family so that balance has to be struck and the boundaries MUST be set ahead of time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As Ernst Financial Solutions, LLC got its start, I started coaching individuals and families on how to handle their money, eliminate debt, and build wealth. So far my clients have eliminated close to $2.5 Million dollars of personal debt and are creating a path to financial freedom and generational wealth for their families. My coaching practice has evolved and while I still coach individuals, couples, and families, I am now also coaching many businesses and watching them grow and impact their communities even beyond the walls of their immediate homes. Coaching focuses on mindsets, habits, and behaviors to ensure that we work toward our desired future and desired outcomes rather than end up at a default future and unintentional default outcomes.
It is an honor to walk beside my clients, their families, and businesses to see transformation happening in a matter of a few short months or just a couple of years.
Earlier today I was in a coaching session with a client whose business grew by 225% last year compared to the prior year! The difference this makes not only in their own finances and business, but also the impact it has on their local community it far greater than we even imagined at the beginning of this coaching relationship.
I get to challenge, push, and help clients stretch themselves further than they imagined and we feel like we are just getting started.
Building a business is challenging and it is a roller coaster of emotions and a financial roller coaster, but seeing lives changed and knowing that generations will be impacted as a result of the work we do is worth the ups and downs of this journey.
What I want the world to know about what I do and about my brand/story is that anyone CAN create the life of freedom and impact that they want, but it will require intentional steps and sometimes sacrifices.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A visit to Mount Dora, FL is definitely a treat! We are surrounded by lakes and within a short drive of us there are several natural springs as well. Mount Dora is a quaint town that almost feels like stepping back in time. I’ll often refer to it as “modern-day Mayberry.” We would start the day with brunch with coffee and a crepe from Claire’s Creperie inside the Mt. Dora Marketplace. The Marketplace is a multi-vendor market with many food and shopping options, but Claire’s is by far my favorite… it is my wife and my place, so there is a little bias, but our crepes are honestly fantastic. We would then stroll through town in and out of the shops and most likely include a walk along the boardwalk down by the lake. As a coffee junkie, we would get an additional cup at Serendipity Brews and continue our tour before grabbing dinner at Eden Abbey Brewing Community, which depending on the day may also have live music!
For a week-long trip, we would definitely venture to at least one of Florida’s natural springs and an introduction to our community. The people here are laid back and very welcoming, so we would not lack for great conversation anywhere we went.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The primary person who is most deserving of credit to any success I have is my wife Claire. She launched her own business back in 2019 and we worked though the challenges of 2020 together. Claire is my biggest supporter and loudest cheerleader. When we discussed starting my business she said “You have to go at this full time” which meant that the majority of the bills and expenses would rest on the consistency of her income while I got my coaching practice off the ground. Thankfully, because of this, we have now been able to have her be a stay at home mom for our beautiful little girl in these incredibly formative years, and all credit goes to Claire for the support and belief in me and in what I do.
