We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Willesee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesse, how do you think about risk?
I’ve always had this philosophy that I’m never scared to cut off everything I’ve been doing in my life up to that point and start something new. If you look back at my career I’ve done a wide variety of things – from art to rap, and now social media content. That came from my childhood where I went to lots of different schools and lived in multiple countries. Many people are scared to let go but I’ve always seen it as something exciting, an adventure that opens up new pathways each time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve had a very varied artistic journey, from doing artworks on canvas, to live installations, to filmmaking, photography and music. Because I took all those journeys and was so dedicated to them, I have built up skill sets that are perfect for what I’m doing now in terms of creating content online. I’ve been online making things for a minute now, probably a lot longer than most. I’ve have several viral creative projects over the years, and the occasional headline lol. Now I’m settling into how all those elements work together to do what I’m creating now. What I’m excited for is the next chapter where I’m travelling around the USA to create content on the road and meet up with my Sunset Beer Drinking Club.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You’d start the morning off at Venice Beach with a body surf at the pier. You’d head to Hinanos for an early beer for breakfast, then for lunch at Moos Craft BBQ in Lincoln heights. And next you grab some Tijuana style tacos on Sunset from Angels tacos, and eat them on the way to a dodgers game. And after grab a beer at The Douglas in Echo Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve always had a lot of love and support from my friends and family. So I always have gratitude towards them.
