Meet Jessica Lee | Entrepreneur & Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I was growing up, I rarely saw anyone in media that looked like me. Asian representation at the time was sparse. But, my dream was to be a model, so everyday I would watch tutorials on catwalks, take my own headshots, and practice posing in front of my mirror. That world always seemed impossible, so I studied hard to get into UCLA for my professional career. At UCLA, I started my Instagram to document my college journey and move to LA at 17. I love curating fashion and beauty, as well as sharing student hacks and personal stories. Little did I know that my creative career would arise from the intersection of scholarship and artistry. Dreams really do come true – I’ve worked with some my favorite brands, and I’m a signed model! I grew a loyal following quickly, and now I hold one of the largest audience at UCLA.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up Hakka, my culture wasn’t always widely known or celebrated, but now I use my platform to bring attention to cultural complexities. I really love sharing food content because food is something that connects us all—everyone has to eat, and the joy of a great meal is something we all get. The food world is always shifting, and sometimes traditional recipes can get lost in the mix. That’s where I come in – I focus on blending unique ingredients with universal experiences. Whether I’m sharing family recipes passed down through generations or showing off the latest viral food hacks, I keep my content fresh and exciting for foodies who want to explore new flavors and broaden their horizons—one bite at a time!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m obsessed with finding hidden gems and there is no shortage of spots in Los Angeles – love that so many personalities and cultures have made a home here. Starting on my campus, UCLA is iconic and the birthplace of the internet (and Elle Woods)! After walking the grounds, check out the nearby Japanese food scene in Sawtelle, often regarded as Little Osaka. Close by are the two Getty museums, where you can see priceless art alongside views of the Los Angeles skyline. Plus, you can wave to the Pacific Ocean and catch some sun at Santa Monica Pier after the indoor adventures. Next, we’re checking off the Hollywood Sign and Hollywood Walk of Fame, two of the most famous monuments in the world. These necessary tourist stops will work up an appetite – luckily the only official Thai Town in the USA is down the street, where you can find a treasure trove of Michelin Thai restaurants. We’ll walk off the meal in the beautiful Griffith Park, where you can find flowing water, flower fields and the famous LA mountain lions! You’ll always be entertained in Los Angeles – I love experiencing a Broadway production on Hollywood Boulevard or catching a game by the Downtown / USC area. After a fun night, you can’t go wrong with the always-open scene in Koreatown, where delicious restaurants are open 24/7 to accommodate any itinerary.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel so lucky to be surrounded by loved ones who support all my creative endeavors. My parents gifted me my first camera, and thanks to their encouragement my world view continues to expand! My boyfriend has been with me every step of the way through my artistic journey – I’m grateful to have a strong support system through the ups and downs of being a creator. Finally, I’m forever indebted to my hundreds of thousands of fans who are cheering for me from all corners of the globe.
