Meet Jessica Leon | Event Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Yes it’s actually a bible verse, Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” This bible verse means SO much to me, I 1st heard it when I was in college my mom would say it to me whenever I was having a rough day. And now I repeat it to myself anytime I’m going through a hard moment where I feel down and undefeated. Especially with my business when I worry or am scared about certain things this bible verse helps me push through and not give up.

What should our readers know about your business?
If you hire me as your Event Content Creator get ready to see a person with a HUGE smile behind their iPhone! That’s what I think truly sets me apart, you can see the love I have for my business through the content I create and while I’m capturing it.
I’m currently very excited for this interview, I never in a million years would’ve thought I’d get an opportunity like this. My business has been a huge blessing for me and I truly thank God for opening doors for me when I least expect them.
But Event Content Creation is still something very new that not many even know exists so it’s hard to get jobs sometimes. I have to use my own social media to educate others and really market myself to the right crowd that would be interested in this kind of service. So that part has been a bit difficult but it’s all a learning process.
What I want the world to know about me and my business is that before I started I was in such a struggle to try to figure something out with my life. I was a new mom that has always wanted to have her own business but at that moment it felt impossible. I struggled thinking about leaving my baby and even how I was going to manage a business and a baby. But I truly left it in Gods hands and slowly but surly started to create my brand. Once I was able to do that, I took a leap and started to market myself. At first many of the jobs were free but it didn’t matter I was happy to get the opportunities so I could grow and get experience. Its taken a lot a of patience and time for me to get where I am now but I’m so happy I took my time and never gave up. So what want others to know is that no matter what, even if it seems impossible don’t give up!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ok Boston has a lot to offer but I guess it really depends on the time of year you visit. But as a local foodie myself there are some key spots I would have as must trys. My go to donut spot, Union Square Donuts in Somerville the Boston Cream donut with a cold brew, perfection! Next would be an awesome breakfast spot called Lincoln’s Landing in Swampscott, ughhh the Nutella french toast is to die for. Now on to some good seafood right in the city, can’t go wrong with the Barking Crab. Delicious lobster rolls, crab cakes and a nice spot right near the water. Another go to of mine is El Peñol in Revere or East Boston for the BEST Colombian food in Greater Boston, And I can say that as a fellow Colombian myself lol, must try are the empanadas, mini bandeja, pollo a la plancha y jugo de mora.
Well enough about food, I could truly go on for days on that lol. But now with sight seeing a few musts are definitely Fenway Park, Boston Commons, Newbury St., North End and Seaport. All very iconic spots in Boston that are definitely worth checking out.
If you make it out to Massachusetts in the summer I would definitely recommend going to Martha’s Vineyard. You can do a day trip but if you can stay a night or two it’s definitely even better. Such a beautiful place with so many beautiful beaches that actually aren’t freezing like most in MA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my dad and my brother, my two main entrepreneurs in life! These two men have shown me and taught me so much about entrepreneurship that I truly can say a lot of my drive comes from them. My dad started as an entrepreneur in the late 90s, I grew up seeing him as a small business owner. I saw all the success but also all the struggles that come along. But one thing I will always admire is his dedication and drive for his businesses. My brother also started with my dad at that time but later on in the early 2010s he branched out on his own and now runs a very successful business. I actually used to work for my brother in his business and learned SO much in the back end on how to successfully and responsibly run a business. He truly has taught me so much that I now implement in my own business. I’m forever grateful!
I also want to shoutout all the amazing mom entrepreneurs that I’ve been able to meet at events. I’m a first time mom to a 1 1/2 year old and I’ve found it so hard to to balance mom life and running a business. But meeting so many inspiring mama-preneurs truly motivates me to keep going with my business. Some of these moms have multiple kids and still balance being entrepreneurs, so I know I can do the same.
