We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Yoon Ji Chung and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”

Most things I learned in life that I remember were either from life experiences or from connecting with a certain moment. If you want to spread a message, through any type of art form, the quickest and most successful way to do it is to make the audience relate to it somehow.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The most important lesson I learned was to never fall in love with your art when working with clients. Most of the time they will go towards a way that you might not even have thought of. And that doing that is okay too. It’s also extremely important to always be looking at new trends and what people are more likely to search for on social media as it is all connected. Not only by learning through the internet, but by watching lots of movies from different countries, reading books and articles, and what I usually like the most, visiting museums, as it can give you so many ideas for different projects you don’t expect. My type of art tends to be very colorful and complementary. I like to do a mix of photography, graphics, and motion. I consider my art to be light-hearted and entertaining as I like people’s reaction to it to be somewhat with good positive energy the same way I usually gravitate towards cute, refreshing, and cheerful art. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All I could think of were my parents. From an early age, they were always very passionate about any type of artform and always gave me and my brother several opportunities to reach, notice, and appreciate other cultures and the beauty that is unique and different was. Without their support and push, I wouldn’t have the eye either the maturity to look at art and life another way.
