We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessie Fowler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessie, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
It’s interesting working in this industry as it is also my ‘life’. My friends, relationships and future are all intertwined with what I do for a living. I’ve found that seeking balance in the beginning I was trying to separate the two and fight the fact that everything i do is very much intertwined. I’ve accepted that my personal life can be intertwined with my life as an entertainment host while also being connected to my life behind the camera as well as on stage dancing. So instead of seeking balance in separating it all, I’ve found the balance in my attention and time invested in myself and what I value personally. Reinventing this over time was stressful and dramatic at times but I am at a place now where I do have a lot more balance because of how I’ve defined this for myself. I truly believe we can find balance in any life we create as long as we put our energy into acceptance and ease with everything we are involved in.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The road to this level is never easy especially as a sensitive person with a big heart and passion for what I do. As well as everything being intertwined LGBT+ community, the layers tend to be more difficult to navigate. Being about 5 years in living and working in my purpose, I can finally say I am handling my professional life. All angles of my identity were challenged, my level of drive and even my entire purpose was questioned constantly. It wasn’t until my late twenties where I realized my purpose was dependent on learning how to trust myself and what the universe had planned. All of the challenges are exactly the reason I’m able to navigate the path now confidently even though there is no clear goal.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dance partner Kelzz deserves major recognition when it comes to my success as a dancer. She is not only family at this point, but she’s been extremely patient, understanding and encouraging in my process. My business partners with Taste Entertainment also deserve major recognition to my success in the entertainment industry. Expanding my professional image, connections and confidence. As well as many relationships I’ve developed since my move to LA.
