Meet Jett Black | CEO and Founder Sweet Release Agency, Award-Winning Adult Industry Publicist, Sex Worker & LGBTQI Activist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jett Black and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jett, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The success of my career as a Marketer and Publicist comes from valuing people and their impact in my life, fostering strong relationships with honesty, transparency and great communication.

I am a big believer in the transference of energy and that surrounding yourself with positive influence and maintaining a healthy, active and stimulated mind always finding the positive in everything that you do, increases your success rate.

Elements that have been important behind my success have been the incredible people I have met in my career from the independent survival sex workers ( which I can say with pride, that my career began there ) to the successful millionaire business owners and brand creators worldwide who have shaped and guided me to become the man I am today.

I have also been incredibly fortunate to have the unwavering support of my family, without them I would not be where I am today so a special shout out to my parents and close family members and friends for their unconditional love and support, as crazy as I am when it comes to challenging the status quo, they have always stuck by me.

Finally, it goes without saying that having a strong connection to the Adult Entertainment and Adult Business Industry first and foremost as a sex worker who was at the age of 18 exploring his own sexuality and personal identity having left the church and confused about where I fit in society, I was fortunate to find my tribe in the adult industry which is where the crazy success story of them all came to life, becoming the CEO and Founder of Sweet Release which is now respected as a global, multi-award-winning adult industry marketing and publicity agency and my realisation as an entrepreneur and innovative award-winning marketer, publicist and business strategist worldwide.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from others is my passion for the adult industry which comes from my own REAL industry experiences as an escort and deep understanding of who I am and my sexually liberated take on the world, the freedom of having my own voice, being able to determine my own future…always challenging the status quo.

I was born in Sydney, Australia and I often joke about how I went from bible bashing to whips, chains and handcuffs.

So… I actually used to work in Children’s Ministry, managing Youth Groups and working with children who wanted to explore religion (Anglican, Pentecostal). At the time I was in denial about my sexuality and felt that if I prayed hard enough the “gay shit will vanish” I used to tell myself this all the time.

Throughout my time as a youth minister, I was confronted by many young people questioning their sexuality and who were comfortable talking to me about this on religious camps and programs I was managing. At the time I knew my sexuality in my mind but I was not prepared to accept this in my heart so I thought “if I pray hard enough, I will be able to pray the gay away and it won’t be with me forever”. However, after helping many young people accept their sexuality and help them come out to their friends and family, I simply could not keep lying to myself any more and so I made the decision to leave the church and dive into the “gay scene” by throwing myself in the deep-end.

After leaving the church I had a massive identity crisis and I was questioning “who am I now?” And thought the only way I am going to be able to understand who I am as a gay man through the lives of others. I was fresh meat on the gay scene, turning up at clubs in mesh singlets and skinny jeans – a lot of men wanted me… so I took the opportunity to be wanted.

People that I met, whether we had sex or not told me they enjoyed my company which quickly lead to money being put in my hand and so, I said to myself “fuck it, let’s give this a go, if people want to pay me let’s make some money”.

The biggest challenge for me when I first stepped into the adult industry, was learning how to navigate a world I was unfamiliar and the people that I had never come across before, while trying to understand my sexuality and my place in the world. I was completely new to the adult industry, everything was very exciting and at times scary, but I embraced the fear and enjoyed every moment.

The best way I found to overcome challenges was telling those who challenged me and my thought process to F$#@ Off or just not involve these people in my life. I have always found through trial and error that surrounding myself with positive people and those who share the same goals for their lives as I have, tend to be the friends that survive a lifetime.

To this day, I have licked it. snorted It. sucked It. fucked It. wrote It and.. I live to tell the tale!

For over a decade, the identity and persona I have created for myself known as “Jett Black” has identified with the adult industry as a SWer and Marketing, Public Relations and Business Strategist formally qualified including Masters in Business Administrations (MBA) and specialist Degrees in Marketing, Advertising and Industrial Relations.

I am incredibly proud of my sexual discoveries of myself and the deep understanding I have of who I am and the people I choose to surround myself with today as the CEO and Founder of Sweet Release Agency.

I am proud of my accomplishments in launching Sweet Release, a multi-award-winning adult industry marketing and public relations agency which to this day has partnered with over 4,200 clients in 80 countries including Escorts, Porn Stars, Web Cam Performers, Adult Retailers, Sex Toy Products, Fashion, Dating Applications, Night Clubs, Drag Queens and Adult Entertainment Venues who needed help reaching climax in their business and their careers.

My success ultimately has come from the people that had my back early on in my career this included my family, close friendships outside of the industry and the clients who were willing to let me into their lives to explore not only their sexuality but also support them with their businesses and careers.

I never would have thought I would own and operate a Marketing and Public Relations Agency that gives back to the industry that not only helped me embrace my personal identity and sexuality, but also save my life. There were so many times that I felt suicidal and out of place, like I did not belong. The people I met in the adult industry, kept me on track for the most part, while helping me explore my kinks and fantasies and for that I will always be incredibly grateful.

My journey has not been easy but it has been incredibly rewarding and the journey is still going, which has been exciting filled with international recognition in Adult Industry Awards including ASN Magazine Awards, Australian Adult Entertainment Business Industry Awards (X Awards Australia) as well as mainstream awards recognising excellence in business and marketing throughout Australia and New Zealand. I owe my success story to the adult industry and my family who supported my education and continue to support my career.

I have learnt how to identify positive and worthy relationships, not to invest my time and energy into people who are self involved and have no time for others than themselves. I have also learnt how to say no, to ensure the success of my career and the continuous success of my clients worldwide as well as the people who stand by me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sadly, so many of my favourite places are closed due to COVID-19 or in some cases have closed down permanently due to the pandemic.

However, I am a sucker for adrenalin sports and I do love to get my freak-on at gay bars and night clubs that embrace the leather and bondage world, which I 100% identify with.

A week in the life of Jett Black consists of work outs on the beach with my incredible personal trainer, jogs and walks through the botanic gardens and adrenalin opportunities including Jet Ski’s Escape Rooms…. I am also a sucker for golf and tennis, I do have a little bit of a competitive streak. Throughout the week we would indulge on incredible cuisine spanning Thai, Chinese, French and Italian with a visit to one quirky restaurant I absolutely love called Mjølner which serves VIKING INSPIRED cuisine – absolutely incredible!

On the weekends in Melbourne, you would be coming with me to my favorite haunt and leather community night club called The Laird followed by drinks and dancing to sunrise at The Peel Night Club or Poof Doof – drag queens, debauchery and drinks- oh my!

When the sun is out I do love to hike and run up the mountains and take photographs but I also love travelling interstate on a private jet or helicopter – so be prepared for spontaneous adventures with me!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to every adult business and adult entertainer who believed in me when I first entered the adult entertainment industry at the (barely) eighteen (18) years of age. I would also like to thank my parents for their ongoing support of my career and unwavering love of me even when I accepted my homo-sexuality. My parents and family have been a massive driving force behind my life journey and business decisions as well as my career aspirations as a Drag Queen, a Marketer and an Agency and National Awards Show founder supporting the adult industry globally.

Michael and Sheri of ASN Lifestyle Magazine have been incredibly supportive providing unwavering support for me in the United States of America with my agency Sweet Release and the awards program I created called X Awards Australia providing recognition for winners while also helping me tell the story of the many clients who have worked with me as well as kindly sharing my story and how I got involved in the adult industry.
