We had the good fortune of connecting with Jewels Davidson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jewels, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?

As a small business owner, new mom and someone who has always focused on the importance of maintaining a healthy work/life balance, my perspective and priorities were drastically altered by recent events this past year. Easing back into my private training business (run out of my MB home studio) was a hard, yet welcomed adjustment after the birth of my newborn son. However, being forced to shut my doors and pivot to all virtual private and corporate sessions as the Cover-19 pandemic took hold, was stressful and surreal. Only a few short weeks later, my family was dealt with an unimaginable tragedy with the death of my beloved baby brother. In an instant, my life and the balance I had always tried to maintain, was shattered. Grief fogged over my daily to-do lists, goals lost their importance and truly just surviving the days, for my baby and family’s sake was what mattered most.

During the last year, a daily commitment to reclaiming balance-mind, body and spirit has pulled me through. Practicing gratitude, healing breathwork, mindful eating and making early sweat sessions a priority are key. These techniques allow me to truly ‘show up’ for my family, dedicated clients and for my own wellness. It’s something I am mindful of, every hour of the day. Life is too precious to not make balance essential.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

After suffering from chronic health issues throughout my childhood, I was finally diagnosed with Celiac Disease as a young adult. From that point on, my deep desire to not only help myself, but to focus on helping others feel their best- body, mind & spirit was formed.

In my twenties I left a successful marketing career in New York to finally follow my true passion for health and fitness. I moved back to So Cal & was the first cohort to receive a Master’s Degree in Integrative Health (Scripp’s Integrative Medical Center & National University.) While doing this I became a certified private trainer & received multiple certifications primarily focusing on Pre/PostNatal training.

Graduate school inspired me to create an innovative program called PATH (promote & achieve teen health through an integrative approach.) I am inspired to launch this someday soon as well as an age-relate fitness concept I trademarked. In the meantime, my amazing clientele, both in-person and virtually keep me extremely busy. I feel grateful and honored to have such an incredible following of motivated and inspiring clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

We’d kick the week off in beautiful Manhattan Beach. Rising early for a quick sand run, then we’d grab my stand up paddle boards for a fun SUP session & enjoy the ocean. Being lucky enough to have the beautiful beach as a backyard is something I have so much gratitude for…

After grabbing breakfast to-go from Kreation Organic Juicery (they have the best fresh juices & gluten-free carrot cake that’s healthy enough to call breakfast/lol)

We’d stop by one of my fav workout apparel stores Vuori where I’d treat her to some new, comfy workout gear. Then we’d stop in for a quick hair blowout from Rick, friend & owner of Hush Salon in MB, before heading to lunch at Fishing With Dynamite for the best grilled fish tacos & a glass of sparkling wine.

The next few days would be spent driving along our beautiful coastline, enjoying a wine hike in Malibu, saying hi to friends & getting in workouts while surrounded by nature’s beauty!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To all my fabulous and fearless clients and friends! The entire SoCal fitness industry including gym trainers, instructors, coaches and leaders in wellness!
