Meet JJ Murray | Fashion Model, Influencer, and Dignitary

We had the good fortune of connecting with JJ Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi JJ, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in New Jersey and New York City, where I’ve spent most of my life. My upbringing has profoundly shaped me, surrounded by a loving and supportive family, a close-knit community of friends, and mentors who have guided me throughout my career in fashion as an emerging model, personality, and dignitary.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Based on the information I have:

Jay Murray, also known as JJ Murray, is an accomplished fashion model celebrated for his distinctive style and strong presence in the industry. With a rich heritage that includes Sicilian, Greek, and Irish roots, Jay has carved out a unique space in the modeling world. He is particularly noted for his significant social media following and influence within the LGBTQ+ community. Jay’s career is marked by his work with top fashion houses and his commitment to representing diversity and inclusion in fashion.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely start our day off with a Private Meditation and Yoga Session at Runyon Canyon, enjoying the scenic views of LA.
Then definitely do brunch at The Butchers Daughter (Avocado Toast is a MUST) and Mimosas for my bestie. Spend the afternoon shopping at Rodeo Drive and all of the high-end boutiques and unique stores along Melrose Avenue (Fred Segal).
Early evening we would call up our glam to get ready. Makeup products by Pat McGrath Labs and Fenty. Then we would head over to West Hollywood for dinner at Craig’s and pop over to club Hart to shout out my boy Lance Bass.
Then head over to VIP access to The Chapel at The Abbey. Enjoy a night of dancing, incredible music, and a vibrant crowd.
And last but not least…the After-Party at a Private Club: End the night with an exclusive after-party at a private club like Bootsy Bellows or Soho House, both my classic faves!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am a deeply spiritual person, and I credit my God as my ultimate guide and hero. Her influence permeates every aspect of my life. Spiritual practices and meditation are essential to me. However, the most significant mentor in my life has been my Grandma Mae. I am incredibly grateful for the time we shared. She would let me do her nails, and I would color them with crayons. She was the best, teaching me the meaning of true unconditional love. My parents have been my rock throughout my life. Family means everything to me; they are the center of my universe. Everything I do is for them and for all of the LGBTQ+
community, especially youth…inspire me every. single. day. Their strength and resilience is what I admire the most about my community and I try and represent that in everything I do for them.
