We had the good fortune of connecting with Jodie Bishop and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jodie, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My quote that I live by, is “no plan B”. I know it sounds funny, but it’s a paraphrase of something my granny used to say to me at certain points of my adolescence and early adulthood. She’d say: “if you want something bad enough, you won’t need a plan B. You just need multiple routes to get to plan A.” That always pops up in my head whenever I feel discouraged about this whole thing..my dreams and goals and wants and so forth…reminds me to remember how bad I want this to happen for me. Reminds me of what to do if I really do want this.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First off, I’d like to give thanks to Israel for what I’m about to say as I think it would make him proud. “To show the world and the youth that making mistakes, having flaws, and possessing imperfections doesn’t mean the end of your journey.” And “to be the leader for the future, by any means.” That’s what I represent. That’s what I stand for. That’s my brand. That’s what sets me apart. However, let me make the record reflect that I don’t compete with NO MAN. I’m a god in my own lane and I want everyone to succeed and to eat. I was broke and homeless for this. I performed at sold out shows, and shows where only 5 people showed up and put the same effort either way because I’d pour my heart into this art for free. I put way more than 10,000 hours for this. Lost friend and family for this. Made mad sacrifices for this one wish. This one dream. I do this so the WORLD can know what it takes. Ain’t none of this easy when you’re building from ground up. However, you PLANT THOSE SEEDS. You TEND TO THEM. Watch them grow through the struggle and see what happens, if you’re patient enough. I know that imma die sooner or later. We all are. I just wanna know that when the lights go dim, and I get my final curtain call…I’m leaving knowing that I did everything I could to make my words mean something to the world. To know that I mean something. To die knowing I made it, and did it with truth. That thought process makes me overcome when I think I wanna let this go. That and thinking that I don’t wanna be no “what if” in this.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them to Hollywood first…then I’d up Hollywood hills towards the Hollywood sign so that way we can go on the trail to look at the sign and look over the reservoir towards the city. Then, I’ll show them Beverly hills because Beverly hills is a beautiful place to be in my eyes and worth showing everyone I know. I’d take them to a spot called “Jon and Vinny’s”. It’s a really good to spot to eat for dinner and enjoy people’s company. The hills of Alhambra is a good place to be if you wanna hang out, or even have a Airbnb at and see a good overview of east LA. DEFINITELY WOULD TAKE THEM TO SANTA MONICA! Would also go to Hollywood high and the LA courthouse to skate for a day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my best friend Glenn (they’ll get the joke when they see this hehehe). The true definition of a real friend and someone who truly possesses love in their heart. Been there for I even said that I did anything musically, and once I finally came out and said that I did…the rest was history. Also would like to shoutout my little brothers. I got a lot of them and they are the future. One of the reasons I continue on to make my place in this world.
