We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Steele and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a real estate investor based in Los Angeles, but purchase properties across the United States, What sets me apart is that I don’t enlist the help of others in terms of financing, and am not afraid to purchase a house if I haven’t seen it in person. I’m most proud when I can get ahead of the market, for example, my first investment in East Nashville, TN has been made an incredible return, as I got into the area when it was still not the “it” place to live. Investing out of State is not easy, I learned a lot of lessons the hard way employing different real estate investment strategies (buy and hold, fix n flip, 1031 exchange, etc.). I’ve done my own property managing, and have also enlisted the help of others, depending on the property.

I’m also a licensed real estate agent in CA, and what sets me apart there is that I have a lot of experience with real estate investment strategies that I have personally done, so I can give clients firsthand knowledge of my experience to help in their decision making.

For my podcast, “Experience Curve”, the idea was born out of a realization that I’ve worn many hats since high school: blackjack dealer, movie production assistant, studio employee, touring the country in rock bands, business owner, and real estate investor/agent. It made me realize how many cool and exciting people I’ve been surrounded with, and how I could give them the mic to teach others how to navigate their profession.
