Meet Johana Marin: owner and creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Johana Marin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Johana, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My husband, he has giving me the freedom to explore parts of my creative personality that I didn’t know existed, without worrying too much about the financial part to our family and not to mention the concept of “COCO” – That’s how we named the trailer – was all his idea. I have my hands on the branding and making, but none of this would have beeing possible without him. When you visit me, you see bits and parts of him and his creations all over CASA LULO’s set up.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Casa Lulo was born out of the need to show case my brand Lulo swimwear in a different and memorable way, that is how Casa Lulo was born. Since the swimwear brand was a start up with my sisters I needed to find a way to make money since everything LULO was making was going back into the company and the promise made when we started it to donate back to unprivilige communities in our hometown in Colombia, I decided to add to the shop cute little finds from different makers for extra income, until I fell in love with making my own. Thanks to a family member that let me borrowed a screen printing machine to make promotional tees for the swimwear brand, I fell in love with the process of making them and the creative freedom t-shirt making provides. What I must love about it is seen the beautiful humans that wears them and support my hustle everyday. Now I Have two babies to grow but also two babies that give back, it has not been easy growing two companies, but the love for the hustle, the people I meet, the communities we helped and the one I’m surranded with keeps me going,
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Nature is my way to go! That is why we live in this beautiful state. When my family comes over we enjoy going to the beach I particularly recommend 1000 steps in Laguna or a camping trip to crystal cove for a beautiful beach sunset. there is also a lot hidden hiking and desert gems I have gone and many on my list to go to.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My sisters and my husband. My sisters for have pushed me to start LULO SWIMWEAR with them 6 years ago, a swimwear brand that carries hearts and dedication. This start up has open up my world to many other opportunities and roads I didn’t know excited and of course my husband for his endless support and dedication to my dream.
