We had the good fortune of connecting with Johnny Jiasheng Chen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johnny Jiasheng, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am determined to achieve one of my life goals, which is to launch my own business. Through this venture, I will have an opportunity to showcase my potential and talents through a self-actualization process. After working in various organizations, I have come to realize that some projects are difficult to execute within a corporate environment. However, I am confident in my ability to succeed in this endeavor, even though I acknowledge that I have much to learn. I am committed to lifelong learning and will continue to push myself to achieve greater heights.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Forenext is an innovative design studio focusing on creating new experiences and providing creative solutions via different design media. Our team of multidisciplinary designers and researchers specialize in projects ranging from cultural and creative design to visionary avant-garde design. Design serves as our medium to recognize current opportunities and speculate on future developments. Starting an innovative design project poses a challenge that requires keen observation of life’s potential opportunities and thorough research to validate the idea. The idea can then be actualized through experiments and prototyping, which are crucial yet demanding aspects of the process. We believe that we are currently in a crucial period in human history. Our focus is on developing purposeful initiatives and contributing to the advancement of humanity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
D1 Bask in the glorious Los Angeles sunshine with a day spent at Venice Beach.

D2 Take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque Venice Canals while savoring a cup of coffee.

D3 Be awestruck by the breathtaking views at Griffith Observatory.

D4 Indulge in a culinary adventure at renowned restaurants located in Downtown LA and the Arts District.

D5 Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Hollywood and capture a photo with the iconic sign.

D6 Escape the hustle and bustle of the city with a visit to Joshua Tree National Park.

D7 Conclude your trip on a high note with a memorable day at Disneyland.

The journey of Forenext Design Studio was initiated by a group of talented international graduate students who traveled to the US to pursue their studies. It was an honor to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and gain insights into their experiences. During a conversation, we explored the idea of combining our expertise and implementing innovative approaches. I would like to extend my gratitude towards Safiya El Ghmari and Betania Locatti for their dedicated efforts in putting everything together.
