Meet Jon Simon | Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon Simon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think of Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilych where he asks, “What if I lived my life all wrong?” Therefore, you must take risks in life or suffer the pangs of regret. I never want that feeling. I do believe in calculated risks that involve doing homework to make a reasoned and wise decision.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In art, people have the need too pigeonhole you. You’re this or you are that. I believe that is the wrong tact because I marvel at the diversity of God’s creation. No two people think alike about every topic. So dispense of the need to put a label on someone. What sets me apart is my need to convey the Kingdom of God, not in a heavy-handed way, but in a way that shows love to all. that we are all in this together. We all receive a call to do something and it’s up to the individual how to proceed with their free will. My writing skews more toward the protagonist’s Call and Path.
I’m most excited right now about finishing my debut novel. I wrote it over the past 9 months and am having it beta read right now. The character is dynamic, exciting, and something we’ve never read about before.
I don’t believe in a “self-made man/woman” because that is just vanity speaking. Every successful person has had an assortment of help or influences to help them advance. I am where I am today because of the brothers and sisters I have made along the path.
Challenges will always be there…ALWAYS! They just make you better and wiser. God Our Father puts them in your path out of love. I’ve learned not to lean on my own understanding, but always be a student.
I hate saying I have a brand, but I will always push the notion that there is a hero in every single person. By helping those who need help or speaking out against the oppressed. Everyone will have that opportunity. Be your brother’s/sister’s keeper and God bless you. Peace be with you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have quite an astounding collections of world class museums in LA. If there was a game in town, we would have to go to the Staples Center, Sofi Stadium, or the Mecca-Dodger Stadium. I think a trip to Sunset for a concert at the Whiskey a Go-Go or the Roxy after a dinner at the Rainbow would be a rocking’ good time.. Dinner would be at a rooftop restaurant with lush views of the city. I would avoid Rodeo Drive because…what’s the point? If they have kids, we go to Magic Mountain or Universal. But the most profound thing to see would be the Pacific Ocean. The immensity and vastness must be experienced..
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Dad and Mom for giving me the all of their best traits: A sense of justice and equality for all. To be tender with others and listen more than talk. And when the time calls, be dynamic and lead.
