Meet Jonas Feind | Actor & Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonas Feind and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonas, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have this vague memory of being a small child, sitting in front of the TV and watching some silly kids’ show. And I remember asking my parents how it was possible that we are simply allowed to observe other people’s private lives. Once they explained to me what ‘acting’ was, I was completely fascinated with it; as a concept and as a possible career.
Throughout the years, said fascination solidified the belief in me that acting – and by extension storytelling – is the greatest career out there, and that anyone who doesn’t want to follow that path is secretly lying to themselves. That’s very extreme, I know… I don’t really believe the “lying” bit anymore, but thanks to that belief system, I never question whether I have chosen the right path for me personally or not.
If I try to make sense of all of this as an adult, I realize that I have always been quite inquisitive and excitable. It feels like being creative allows me to make the most of this little time we all have by letting me investigate different walks of life and human experiences. I guess for me, being creative is all about exploring. And I think we are all explorers at heart – and as such, explore in our own ways!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think generally getting ahead in life is heavily reliant on the people you encounter along the way. There is so much to learn from each other… And I don’t just mean the incredible teachers I had the pleasure of being taught by, but also the fellow creatives whose stories and talent inspire me!
But speaking of “getting ahead in life”, I am still learning to be okay with stagnation or things not going the way I want them to. I can be a bit of a workaholic, and if I am stressing too much, I can easily forget why I am doing what I am doing. After all, I decided to choose this path because it brings me joy. So whenever I hit a wall or find myself with too much on my plate, I try to remind myself of that!
That thought process is also slowly but surely changing my mindset to a point where I really make the most out of the little things, like, for example, auditions. Recently, I have been genuinely enjoying auditioning, both in-person and self-taping, and that’s definitely been a game-changer so far!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In a big city like Los Angeles, I always love getting a dose of nature – whether that’s hiking through some of the lovely canyons or going to the beach. But then again, lots of people come to Los Angeles to see what big-city life is like and might not really care about nature… In that case, I think K-Town and West Hollywood can be good fun – especially for a night out.
Needless to say, there are so many good food spots that are all worth checking out. Some of my personal favorites are Eggtuck, Otus Thai Kitchen, and Superba. Oh, and I think everyone, definitely people not from the US, should go to Saddle Ranch at least once. That’s a guaranteed good (and possibly insane) time! It’s also my favorite place to cry in the city – don’t ask. But there are also so many hidden gems that are waiting to be discovered!
And this is probably not what some people want to hear, but most of the amusement parks are so worth it, even if they are a bit pricey. Disneyland and Universal Studios are incredibly fun, but Six Flags should not be overlooked. And I’m saying that as someone scared of both heights and rollercoasters!
Face your fears! Maybe that’s a good sentence to end my recommendations for Los Angeles… But also be safe, it is a crazy place after all!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course, first of all, my family deserves a massive shoutout for supporting me and my ambitious dreams. Here, I really would like to give my grandparents a big thank you as well: without their hard work and support, I wouldn’t be here either. I also feel really lucky, as I constantly find myself surrounded by the most amazing and uplifting people – whether that’s friends, castmates, colleagues or teachers. Lastly, I want to give a huge shoutout to my friends whom I grew up with, because without their pushes and nudges, I probably never would have dared to do this!
