We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathon Hollins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business GODY Entertainment, was created with the independent artist in mind. Shawn, the in house engineer, and I both started out in the industry as artists just trying to figure everything out. Through finding our individual strengths and passions within making music we were able to create this niche business that focuses specifically on what the artist truly needs. GODY Entertainment provides artists with the tools needed to develop themselves. For example, getting artists into writing camps, engineering to perfect song making, providing financial advice and options for cash flow needs. These tools are what we believe any independent artist looking to take their career seriously would need.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally, I have spent almost 10 years in the financial industry. I have worked with many entrepreneurs across the states in building successful businesses and creating wealth. While in this career I started GODY Ent and wanted to bring the knowledge of financial planning to the music industry because too many artist unfortunately do not always get to taste success and a lot that do can’t keep their money. So, I want to be able to help and plan with artists for them to be successful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is such a big beautiful place and I love living here! My favorite places to eat for a weekend would easily be Blaqhaus and A Beautiful Life, both restaurants have undeniable food and brunches you wouldn’t want to miss. I’m very big on chill vibes so I’d definitely take them to Pyramid Lake in the Los Angeles National Forest for a lunch or down the PCH to Palos Verdes to enjoy the cliffs and scenery of the Pacific. Just to name some of the dopest events as well, I’d like for them to experience Black Market Flea, Black on the Block, and the Ebony Beach Club for all the good energy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I give all thanks to God. Through this experience we call life, I couldn’t be more grateful for all that He as set for me to accomplish and strive for. To my family and my team and mentors, I give my gratitude to for believing in the vision before being able to see it. This journey hasn’t been easy but it has been beautiful and I’m happy to have the ones that want to be here, here with me.
