Meet Jordan Rice | Co-Founder, Producer, Actor, and Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, what do you attribute your success to?
Determination to get the work done is the most important factor. When people ask me how I got into producing, I tell them that I woke up one day and decided to be a producer. I wasn’t born with any inherent traits that automatically made me a producer, or take any technical classes to teach me, I saw what needed to be done, and I decided to do it. Of course there were many hiccups in the process, but I learned the most valuable skill which is how to teach myself. In the digital age we are in there are hundreds of resources that I would utilize, ranging from youtube, to looking at USC Producer class syllabi and reading all the recommended books. These resources are all at our fingertips, and I decided to take advantage of them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My artistry has been evolving over the years. I grew up doing musical theatre and began my training there. I studied briefly at NYU Tisch, and performed in both educational productions in high school, and professional theatre in the Chicago area. Upon coming to USC, I met 3 incredible artists and we started the company 4085 Productions. We are a student run and led production company dedicated to displaying cerebral narratives that give a glimpse into the human experience. We create high quality films of all lengths for a fraction of the normal cost. Within 4085 Productions, I am most excited about our recent festival circuits, as well as the upcoming release of our first feature film, All Alone Together. We have recently submitted a few of our past films to various festivals and have already received a few selections. We still have a majority to hear from, so we are excited to see what the future holds. Additionally, we are currently deep in post-production for our first feature film All Alone Together and we could not be more excited. A first-look trailer is posted on our instagram!
My message to those interested in working with 4085 Productions is this: we’d love to have you. We view this company not only as a booming machine that makes great films, but also as a creative hub for artists of all backgrounds and skillsets to meet, network, and most importantly, create. We have gotten to where we are today through meeting and working with new people, and we cannot wait to continue doing this. The best part, experience is not a requirement. We work with people with ALL levels of experience and view our sets and productions as places for people to LEARN and GROW as artists.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First I would take them to Grand Central Market in DTLA. Great coffee, cheap food, and a fun time. Then we’d probably drive to Santa Monica to go to the beach and pier because how could we not. We would then end the day catching a comedy show at Groundlings, one of my favorite places to visit for hilarious comedy for a very affordable price.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout a wonderful new director Vincent Walker. He directed one of the recent films I produced, titled Breathe, and is going to change the world.
