Hi Joseph, what matters most to you?
The principle that matters most to me is integrity. I feel integrity is the essence of a persons character which cant be shaken or broken. Adhering to a strong moral compass is my pholsophy to building long term relationships. Those who live there life with this virtue surround themselves with great people. Even when your world may be fallen apart and the easiest path may seem to cut a corner, you push yourself to move in the right direction. Integrity is what connects your character to your soul. Something so powerful that cant be changed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I must of been 7 years old when I realized I had this passion and love for architecture and design. I would catch my self reading Architectural Digest magazines, designing and remodeling my chilhood home and schools, in my head. This passion later in life pushed me to pursue my dream and start my own construction company. I started Focil Construction in 2017 with unwavering commitment do things differently. We just had our second child and I was on a mission to build something for our family.

Building Focil Construction was incredibly stressful, demanding, and exhausting. This was not easy in any sense. I worked 16-18 hours days for over 3-4 years, I was working Saturdays and Sundays. I rarely had any rest days. I was tired and indured lots of stress. Residential construction / remodeling is an extremley demanding industry where your reputation is your identity. I have endured so many challenges but still managed to move forward. I believe most, if not all business owners go through difficult times . These experiences make you wiser and help shape your future business decisions. The benefits of being a business owner comes after many years of hard work and sacrifice, but its incredibly rewarding.

At Focil Construction we look at every home as a blank canvas. We pour our hearts in every design we make. Our specialty and focus is in kitchens. We feel this space is so special that it deserves our entire attention. We put so much effort, time and artistry to make every kitchen exceptional. I believe we provide something unique and different. Regardless of size, budget, or location. We pride ourselves in pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Casa Lena, Mastros or Nobu would be at the top of my list. These places offer great service, amazing food and a welcoming environment. There is nothing more special than sharing a memorable dinning experience with a friend. I am a big fan of single malt scotch whisky. Being able to enjoy good whisky with a close friend followed by a concert, Laker game, or show tops my list of exciting things to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The most important person in my success has been my wife. She has been the emotional and professional support at every stage of my personal and business life. The 16-18 hour work days, daily struggles, and failures she has been by my side supporting and believing in me. She deserves all the credit to my success. She is an excellent wife and an amazing mom. She is loving, caring, thoughful and a high achiever. She works just as hard as I do and puts 110% in everything she does. We got married in our early 20’s and have been married for 16 years. We have have built a beautiful family and business together.
