We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Golombek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh, what matters most to you?
I have an incredible quote from one of my teachers, Dr. Patrick Leddin. He instilled in me something very simple, “Do what you say you are going to do.” This quote has stuck with me as I’ve been building my acting career, but has also been very applicable to my every day life. I aspire to be someone who is accountable, reliable, and trustowrthy, and this quote encompasses these principles. There are many values that I strive to uphold, but this has been a big one for me recently!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I set out to become a professional actor just a few years ago, and even though there have been struggles, I know I am exactly where I am supposed to be. My favorite feeling is when I have seen a really good television show or a movie, and I have to sit still as I absorb and process the incredible storytelling. My goal is to be a part of that process, and impact others with my acting in the same way that films/tv have impacted me. I feel I have gotten to where I am today through lots of hard work that goes on behind the scenes, but also by reminding myself why I love performing. When I have encountered obstacles, remembering my love for art and storytelling has really kept me going. I am still making mistakes and learning as I go, but I hope that when people see my art, they see my passion, my heartbeat, and see that I never gave up.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh this is a tricky question! I am pretty simple when it comes to excursions. For me, I love spending time with my friends no matter where we are! I recently had some good friends of mine visit LA for the first time, so I made sure to take them to In N Out, the beach, Hollywood, and Griffith Observatory to name a few places. But honestly, I love long talks during a nice car ride, singing at the top of my lungs to throwback songs, sharing my favorite movies/shows with my friends, watching sports, and being around people who can make me laugh. Oh! And doing escape rooms!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This past year has been a whirlwind for so many reasons, and there are honestly too many people to give a shout out to. First, I’d really like to give a big thank you to my manager, Laura, who has done SO much for me. Also, Amber Horn, Don Bloomfield, and Lisa London have kept me so inspired during this pandemic, and I am incredibly grateful to have been able to learn from them. Lastly, I have to shout out my friends and my family! They have really helped to keep me afloat this past year. The list goes on and on, and I look forward to making all of these people proud!
