Meet Joshua Greenbaum

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Greenbaum and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As a student in visual arts, I’ve learned that taking risks is essential not just in art careers but in any career. As I prepared to enroll, I often heard that there was a lot of risk in my chosen major, that there were no real careers, and that I would end up working a grueling job totally outside the art field just to pay back the astronomical student loans that would follow.
The same could be said about almost all majors—or the opposite could be argued. Success is available in every field, and opportunities are everywhere. For me personally, it’s important to do what I love. Sometimes what that looks like can change, and there’s nothing wrong with that either.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My current series takes a deep dive into the history and legacy of some of the most iconic moments in professional wrestling. It features vintage style poster design, original sports photography, and multimedia sculpture. The series stems from pivotal wrestling moments that occurred this fall, including Samoa Joe winning his second World Title at AEW Gear, an event I had the opportunity to photograph from ringside, and the retirement of the legendary John Cena.
While the series has grown significantly over the course of this month, I still consider it to be in its early stages, with big plans extending into 2026. Right now, I am focused on expanding the storytelling through original art and exploring the many directions this project can take.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Jersey City is really starting to grow and change through the first half of what is already feeling like an intense decade. Lately, I almost always find myself at Saint Peter’s University, where I’m studying Visual Arts and showing my new series alongside several other rising artists and two very talented professors. For a tour, send a direct message to @JoshGreenbaumArt on Instagram.
Some of my other favorite art venues include Dineen Hull Gallery, Mana Contemporary Studios, DGA Studios, Smush Gallery, and Curious Matter Gallery. Must try bites include some of the best authentic Italian food in the area, like the honey mustard shrimp at Cangiano’s Marketplace and a prosciutto, mozzarella, and pistachio panini from Prato Bakery.
The Broadway Diner is a fantastic vintage eatery and a core memory of many hangouts, and disco fries with a milkshake will always be the best late night bite.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to the students and faculty at Saint Peter’s University and Hudson County Community College who supported me along the way and inspired me to be the best version of myself.
