We had the good fortune of connecting with Joy Libardoni and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joy, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?

Meaning is often a matter of focus.

We have the power to direct our mind. Being grounded and channeling our energy is so important to go on in life and create something meaningful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began acting when I was a child in school, I was always chosen as the lead in school recitals. In Italy kids don’t start acting professionally as they do in La. At that time I had no idea that those were acting skills! I began working professionally only as a young adult in many prime time tv shows and movies. Later on I started working in American productions shot in Italy (we have a wonderful tax credit going on) and I have been irremediably drawn to La. I have booked small roles in independent movies with big stars and even produced a psychological thriller with Emile Hirsch, distributed by Lionsgate. Furthermore, while I was living in Italy I felt that my life had a stop, where as here in La I learned that life is an never ending improvement. I love to live life with this concept in my mind.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First thing I’ll take my friend for a walk in Beverly Hills, she will feel at home seeing all the Italian luxury shops and we can visit Mr. Brainwash museum. Next thing a hike on the beautiful hills of La, so she can enjoy an open air walk with stunning views on the city. The hills in La have such different geological features from Europe that they are very interesting to explore. The Griffith is a must. The city is so packed of tiny cafes, restaurants and shops that I can take my friend anywhere. For sure a long nice walk to explore the artsy vibes of Melrose. Then a bike ride on the most beautiful trail on earth in Santa Monica, on the beach and on the ocean. A visit to the beach La Piedra along the California Coast is the perfect conclusion of the trip.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thanks to the Beverly Hills Play House for their constant work, ethics and support to us actors and to the DIVE, a non profit social club for Italian women who live in La, that celebrates our heritage, culture, language and friendship.
