We had the good fortune of connecting with Joyce Abou Chaaya and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joyce, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My husband Eddy and I met overseas and when we started thinking of spending the rest of our lives together we imagined a world where we would start our own family tradition of starting a mom and pop cafe at his hometown of Los Angeles. Then we came across Float.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am originally an engineer. My choice to change my career path is namely because I wanted a more fulfilling professional life. Float allows me to be creative in my ideas and dare to implement them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
California’s beaches are among the most beautiful I have seen in the world. I would take my friend on a stroll in Huntington Beach in the sand near the ocean. If there were heaven, that’s what it would look like.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If it weren’t for Eddy, Float would have taken a different turn. But it is thanks to his dedication and commitment that we were able to work as a team and make our business grow into a staple in the neighborhoods we are in.
