Meet JulezP | Producer/DJ/Entertainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with JulezP and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JulezP, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking to me is pivotal in separating yourself from other artists. I pride myself on taking a risk every performance wether that is playing out new tracks, interactions with the crowd, and/or the way I go about my set. Taking risks is so important in todays industry because their is such a need to be different. Fans want a unique experience every show, track, and social media post.
One risk I took that I was very proud of was playing Father Stretch – Sunday Service (choir version of Kanye Wests Father Stretch My Hands). It was the night before Easter and I was performing at Big Night Live in Boston, MA. This song was a risk because it is a completely different genre of music from what I was playing which was EDM. I ended my set with this track by going in front of the massive crowd counting down from 3 on the drop. I was worried that people would be so thrown off, that they would not know wether to dance or stare.
The track went crazy and the sea of people were jamming with me singing the lyrics. I felt their connection and the risk paid off very well. I will never forget that moment playing in my home city in front of my friends and fans.

I am very excited to announce my new single INFINITE will be available on all major streaming platforms July 29th.
I got to where I am today through dedication to wanting to be better. COVID opened my eyes to see how quickly the music industry can be taken away. I dedicated that time to learning new ways to produce and DJ which prepared me when they started opening clubs again. A piece of advice I would share with young artists is finding your brand and if you truly love it, NEVER quit.
Finding your brand comes with time. You learn who you are as an artist over time. There will be peaks and valleys and how you manage that shapes your career. After producing and DJing for 6 years I am finding my brand with my logos, merchandise, sound, and personality.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Philadelphia the city of Brotherly Love has so much to offer when it comes to its art, music, food, and other forms of entertainment. South Street you can find my favorite cheesesteak spot Jim’s. Gotta get the Wiz w (Cheesesteak with wiz cheese and onions and peppers). For entertainment theres venues all over the city. If I am not playing one of my homies in the Damaged Goods Only group will be rocking out at a spot. My favorite venue to play is The Ave, where some of my favorite DJs from across the world have performed at. The electrifying crowd will give you all they got. Philly is a very tough city, if you’re not giving it your all, they’ll let you know… QUICK!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out the Damaged Goods Only group in Philadelphia. Damaged Goods Only is a collective of Philly’s top DJ’s, artists, designers, promoters, and producers. This group has gotten my foot in the door in many Philly venues giving me the opportunity to show off my originals and favorite tracks.
I would also love to shoutout the Tsunami R3cords Label and Dream Weaver Presents for making my career possible. I have released all my music through Tsunami R3cords. My management team has made performing extremely enjoyable and am very fortunate to have such a strong team.
