Meet Julia Stromberg | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Stromberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julia, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is like diving into the unknown, sometimes scary but often exhilarating. For me, it’s about seizing opportunities even when they seem daunting. Moving to LA solo was definitely nerve-wracking, but it’s been a wild ride filled with growth and discovery. Those risks I’ve taken have pushed me to evolve both personally and musically. They’ve taught me resilience, opened doors to new connections, and sparked creativity I never knew I had. Sure, there have been bumps along the way, but each one has been a lesson that’s made me stronger. So yeah, risk-taking has been the fuel that’s powered my journey from Sweden to LA, shaping who I am as a musician and as a person.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m all about creating experiences that resonate with people, whether it’s through nostalgia with “Whole Lotta Hair” or pushing boundaries with “Bluenvy.”
With our tribute band “Whole Lotta Hair,” we’re all about taking our audience on a time-traveling trip through the best of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Playing everything from ABBA to Zeppelin, we guarantee a rocking good time! Catch us live at Oceanview Bar and Grill in Montrose every month, or book us for your private events!
Then there’s “Bluenvy” – our experimental project blending Alternative Rock, Post-Rock, and Indie Rock vibes. We’re in the process of writing our first EP, aiming to create music that’s unique, captivating, and breaks the mold of traditional genres.
And let’s not forget my session work, like “Running like the wolf.” Collaborating with talented artists like J. Tinner has been a blast, and seeing our track gain over 25,000 streams since its release is incredibly rewarding.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. It took a lot of hustle, resilience, and a willingness to embrace challenges head-on. I’ve learned that setbacks are just stepping stones to success, and each hurdle has taught me something valuable.
What sets me apart? I’d say it’s my passion for pushing boundaries and creating music that connects on a deeper level, it’s about quality nit quantity. Whether it’s through nostalgia or innovation, I want my music to leave a lasting impression.
What makes me stand out? It’s my commitment to keeping things real and bringing fresh ideas to the table. I’m not about following the crowd or playing it safe – I thrive on pushing boundaries, surprising folks, and making my mark in the music world. My journey’s still unfolding, and trust me, the best is yet to come.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in LA is like being at the heart of a big experiment, where each day brings something new and exciting. You’re surrounded by all kinds of cool stuff – from funky neighborhoods to amazing food and art scenes. But yeah, it can be a bit chaotic with the crazy traffic and all. Still, there’s this vibe that anything’s possible here. Whether you’re chasing music dreams, trying your luck in acting, or starting your own thing, LA’s all about going for it and seeing what happens. It’s a wild ride, but that’s what makes it so exhilarating! Here’s a glimpse of what I’d show my best friend:
Day 1: Breakfast at Coffee for Sasquatch, Griffith Observatory visit, and dinner at Grand Central Market.
Day 2: Beach day at Venice Beach, dinner and drinks along the beach walk.
Day 3: Breakfast at Tiago Espresso Bar, and explore The Getty Center.
Day 4: Hike to the Hollywood Sign, lunch at Runyon Canyon Park Café, and shopping on Melrose Avenue.
Day 5: Visit The Broad museum, lunch at Grand Central Market, evening entertainment at Hollywood Bowl or The Comedy Store.
Day 6: Visit the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens.
Day 7: Breakfast at Eggtuck, stroll through the Arts District, and sunset hike to Griffith Observatory.
Each day offers a perfect blend of food, culture, and outdoor adventure for an unforgettable LA experience!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! I would love to use this opportunity to shoutout the Musical Theater Community “Scen Österlen” in my hometown of Simrishamn, Sweden. They’ve played a pivotal role in shaping my journey and inspiring me to pursue my dreams. For eight incredible years, starting when I was just 12 years old, I had the privilege of being a part of their musical productions during every summer break. From electrifying performances of Hairspray The Musical to the storytelling of Parade and the whimsical charm of Shrek The Musical, each production was a labor of love and a testament to the passion we all shared for theater and music. The atmosphere at Scen Österlen was simply magical – a warm and inclusive community where kids and youth could come together to express themselves and unleash their creativity. I’m forever grateful for the memories, friendships, and invaluable experiences I gained there, which continue to fuel my artistic journey today. It was like a second home, where everyone felt welcome to express themselves and share their love for the arts. Those experiences were pure magic and continue to inspire me every day. So, here’s to Scen Österlen – you guys rock!
