We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Gillespie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I feel that the work I do in pelvic floor physical therapy impacts the community by improving awareness of the connection we have with our personal power. The more aware people are of their pelvic core muscles and how to control them the more creative and successful they can be in their overall fitness program. Without good core connection people fall short of their goals. Developing a strong pelvic floor gives one a stable platform to launch Into new projects.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The practice is pelvic floor physical therapy. What sets this PT practice apart is that it is solely dedicated to pelvic floor rehabilitation. I have run practices out of hospitals, universities, out patient orthopedic practice and Pilates studios. This location at Beach Life Fitness is a perfect location because it is in the fitness center devoted to the wellness of Mom’s in all cycles of life, teens, prenatal, post natal peri menopause and much more. It has not been easy doing this during Covid-19. The effects of people being shut in for a year has taken a toll on their physical and mental health.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My family from Italy has visited a few times and we like to take them to a hike to the Hollywood sign and the Griffith park Observatory. It’s always fun to take the train downtown and go to the garment district in the jewelry District. We also enjoy our beaches, the pier. I never get tired of going to museum row by USC or the Tar Pits in La Brea.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success and developing a woman owned business for Pelvic Floor Rehab comes from my mentors and my girl Scouting organization and my ex student who has developed a world-class physical therapy program in China. Jill Obery Dodd is my coleader for 12 years in Girl Scouts and she has encouraged me to better myself as an individual and as a leader. Together we have seen out troop grow and develop taking on outdoor adventure challenges. Lillian Chen-Fortanasce was my student who has started a program in China for the past 12 years training physical therapists. She is an inspiration to me for her business model and dedication.
