We had the good fortune of connecting with Jumi Aluko and we’ve shared our conversation below.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Jumi Aluko Consulting, is a full-service event and meeting planning agency that collaborates with individuals and organizations to manage special projects and produce multi-day conferences, executive meetings, nonprofit fundraising events, galas, company retreats, incentive trips, and milestone celebrations. Three key things set Jumi Aluko Consulting apart from other event planning organizations:
(1) Our events are purpose-driven — we focus on events that go beyond the surface, prioritizing those that educate, empower, and build communities. Every element of our planning and production is rooted in your organization’s ‘why,’ ensuring your event leaves a lasting impact.
(2) With extensive international experience and a deep understanding of diverse cultures, we excel in navigating the logistics of events across continents and within niche communities. We handle the complexities of both global and local event planning seamlessly.
(3) In addition to planning your event, we provide dedicated public and media relations services for your event or special project. From crafting compelling media pitches to engaging influential journalists across local, national, and global outlets, we ensure your event or special project gets the attention it deserves.
Building Jumi Aluko Consulting to where it is today took time, growth, and determination. In 2017, I launched the business, initially only offering day-of wedding coordination for couples hosting intimate weddings. Since then, it has steadily evolved into a multi-faceted company that supports organizations and individuals across a diverse range of industries, both domestically and globally.
While we have expanded our scope, we continue to offer bespoke wedding services through the wedding arm of the business, DunniWeddings. Specializing in luxurious, high-touch wedding experiences, we craft celebrations that are as unique as the couples we work with—elevating every detail to create unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime moments. Our commitment to refined elegance and meticulous planning ensures that every wedding we produce is a masterpiece our couples will cherish forever.
Altogether, I am incredibly proud of how far the business has come, expanding our services to include large-scale, impactful events for diverse communities worldwide. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue working on larger projects in both the brand and public sector spaces, particularly those that create meaningful change and reflect the values of the communities they serve.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA is good for food, views, and entertainment so here’s what I would propose:
We would start with a happy hour at Grandmaster Recorder in Hollywood, followed by dinner, and end the evening with a nightcap at their 71 Studio Bar —a super vibey and fun spot.
For lunch the next day, I’d take them to The Henry in West LA because their menu has something for everyone, and it’s another spot with great energy and ambiance.
Obviously, no trip to LA is complete without spending time by the water, so we’d hit the beach – either in Playa Del Rey or Malibu followed by some drinks at the Marina.
Since there is no shortage of events in LA, I’d also plan for us to see a show – so we’d get tickets for at least one evening performance.
To cap off the entire trip, I’d take them to Castaway in Burbank. It’s a great spot to get a panoramic view of the city, enjoy really good food, and sip on some fabulous looking and tasting drinks while taking in the scenery!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to all the amazing individuals who have supported my journey with their prayers, advice, and listening ear. There are too many to name, but I believe they know who they are—I make sure to tell them all the time!
