Meet Jus Jason | Spoken Word artist and Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jus Jason and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jus, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to keep the power of the arts alive in my demographical area.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a spoken word artist is therapeutic for me. Being an artist, I pride myself in the diversity of not being able to be labeled under one specific genre. My poems range from several different topics, which allows every performance to never be the same. A few secrets to my formula are, I never curse in my poems which allows for me to hit stages for the grown crowds, al the way down to the youth. I have never done a show, nor interview where you have not heard my Lord and Savior mentioned, because through Him, I can do all things! I continuously work to become greater and work on any areas of opportunity.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m very passionate about small business. So I would tell them to go to locally owned businesses like The Kings Canvas where they may go see art displayed, or possibly being created as you visit. I would tell them to find some great food at Wishbone, where you may enjoy a variation of special dishes. I would also recommend an event center named Level 2, where they can enjoy a grown night of music and great drinks. Before they go there, they may stop by House of Items, to purchase an outfit and also find great accessories for there house and wardrobe. That’s My Dawg is also a restaurant that is based to support and help our youth.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely there are so many amazing artist out there! A few people that I would like to shout out first would be the amazing @Journey 2B Great for always being there from the creative aspect with ideas and always ready to hit the road and mic wherever needed and an artist we know as Preacherman. He is always sharing the information with friends and the surrounding cities. They are the epitome of the success. I also want to shoutout my two beautiful daughters who are my inspiration with not only the business, but with life itself. I love you Jasmine and Jayla.
