We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Watanabe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because I wanted to pursue something I had a huge passion for. I learned it is worth it to go after something you are passionate about. I had experiences where I went to psych wards and learned that a lot of people were living with regrets about not following their dreams. That’s what really pushed me in the end to become a music artist.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail. I have a certain threshold to hit on a song before it is released. I’m excited about my second album that I’m gonna release called, “Hotter than Wasabi.” It was not easy getting to where I am today professionally. I had to take a lot of losses and made a lot of mistakes. I had to make sure to learn from my mistakes to be able to break through to my successes. I learned how important it is to have a strong network. I want the world to know that it doesn’t matter where you start it’s all about where you finish.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to visit In n Out Burger one of my favorite fast-food places. I would also bring them to Hollywood Pastel Palace. Which is a barbie themed room. It’s great for photoshoots and music videos!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout-out to Nawlage 2k5. He helped develop my career when I was lost and didn’t know what I was doing. He helped me get to the next level of my music career. I’m very thankful for all his help and mentorship.
