We had the good fortune of connecting with Kacey Azucar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kacey, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose an artistic/creative career because it will never feel like a job to me. Yes, it is my “job” but it doesn’t feel like a hard labor job would. My career is an extension of my personality and allows my to be creative and expressive.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well to start, at the beginning of 2020 I was still on the fence of continuing to dance and really choosing for sure what I wanted my career to be. Dancing for so long I have always known that is what I wanted to do, but of course there came the people that would question it and say how will I make a living? So for a long time it was a back and forth of picking and choosing different career paths along with dance. Then the pandemic hit, and I’m sure everyone can agree it was ruff in their own way. For me it was a time of grieving, self-discovery, and having to grow up quickly. By the end of the summer I realized I need a career where I can alway be myself and self-express, and another thing that I failed to realized was my expression in clothing. I realized I can do a lot with fashion, so now Along with dancing that is still my choice, I want to finish school for fashion merchandising. I guess what I would want the world to know about my story is that you should always go with your gut, be smart, but always go for what you love. After all it’s your life and you are the one whose going to live it, don’t forget to have discipline because with that you’ll make your dream into a reality. Thankfully now I am furthering as a choreographer and have put out my first co-choreographed concept video “Good Days” by Sza, along with my friend Noah Jackson. One of many more to come!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit (even though they live near me) I would probably plan a little bonfire at the beach, because I love the ocean. The next day we’d probably go the mall in L.A because we love to shop. Lastly, I’d probably have food delivered and relax at home and watch movies or shows. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well like the saying goes, “It takes a village” and that is very much so! Honestly after becoming friends with my current friend group, choosing life and career choices became easier because I have them to count on and I’m always going to know that they can relate in some way and have them as my support system. Also my mom, lately that has been a big push and motivation to show her that I’m always okay and more than capable of doing whatever I set my mind to, and I thank her making me as strong and independent as I am. Also what is life without love! I thank my boyfriend for helping me be vulnerable again because fear and hesitation would stop me from moving forward. So to all these people above, I thank and love you.
