We had the good fortune of connecting with Kadeem McPherson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kadeem, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I value family the most. My family’s been extended to people I’ve grown up with and I built my identity with the circle closest to me. Even a lone wolf comes from a pack and searches for love it’s in our DNA.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been writing and recording music since 2014 and have had the honor to open for artists like Chief Keef, KRS One, Smoke DZA, U-God of Wu-Tang, Lil Debbie and others with my brother iLLijah Moon. It wasn’t easy. There were long nights, last minute complications, situations that could’ve derailed us but we stayed together through it all and managed to keep giving people an experience they’d never forget. One thing I learned that I’ve engrained my lifestyle is, play your role. Everyone has a position in life to play and we’re only as strong as our weakest ally. Instead of looking upward for answers, look around because the path to your destiny is most likely staring you right in the face. If there is anything I want the world to know about me it’s that I love everyone and I hope through my story you know that you are loved by someone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Without a doubt some of the best food, and service you’ll get in the city is at You have to go to Mike’s Deli, and get the Zuzu Special. Leimert park would be next. If you want to shop and find your next favorite artist at the Bananas event or if you want to relax and enjoy the day I recommend a Chai Latte and Halal Burger at Harun’s coffee. It’s the premiere art district of south central and if you want to meet new people and experience the heart of Los Angeles you have to visit Leimert Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate all my success to my mother, brother and sister, and father. Without them I don’t know where I’d be, or who I’d be in this life. I also want to shoutout my cousin’s Kwame McPherson, Mike Jordan, Shaunte’ & Ashley Peters and my best-friend iLLijah Moon for always supporting me and encouraging me to keep going forward, and continuing creating.
