We had the good fortune of connecting with Kai Chuan Yang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kai Chuan, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by the everyday moments in life—simple things like a walk through the city, observing people, and soaking in the diverse energy around me. Music, in particular, plays a significant role in my inspiration. Because music isn’t visual, it allows my imagination to run wild, giving me limitless possibilities to envision how to represent those feelings and ideas visually.

Above all, I’m passionate about storytelling. I love the challenge of taking the same story and finding new, creative ways to tell it. Whether it’s through motion design, animation, or even just a conversation, I’m fascinated by how different forms and mediums can transform a narrative. This passion for storytelling is at the heart of everything I do, both in my career and personal life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My professional journey began with a strong foundation in communications design, leading me to explore the world of motion graphics. After completing my military service, I worked as an editor and compositor at an animation studio in Taipei. Moving to New York for graduate studies further solidified my expertise. I have since collaborated with prominent clients and contributed to diverse projects, all of which have shaped my career.

My art is a fusion of motion design and auditory elements, deeply influenced by my 20 years of percussion experience. This background infuses my work with a unique depth in audio, allowing me to create immersive and captivating motion graphics. What sets me apart is my meticulous attention to detail and my ability to seamlessly integrate visual and auditory components, ensuring each project has a signature and immersive quality.

I’m most proud of my ability to adapt and evolve in the dynamic landscape of motion design. Each project is an opportunity to innovate and push creative boundaries. The most exciting part of my work is the continuous exploration of new techniques and technologies, which keeps my creative expression fresh and impactful.
