We had the good fortune of connecting with Karen Rosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me, starting my own business was a natural extension of my creative vision. I’ve always been passionate about the power of image, how styling, photography, and visual direction can tell a story, evoke emotion, and shape how someone is seen by the world. Working behind the scenes in photoshoots and fashion productions made me realize how much I loved not just fashion, but the full process of creating a visual universe.

What drives me as a stylist is the ability to see beyond clothes, to understand the energy, beauty, and identity of a person, and translate that into a strong, elegant visual narrative.

Eventually, I felt the need to create a space where I could bring together all these elements: styling, visual storytelling, and design, with full creative freedom. That’s when Rosa Cabin came to life. While it started as a lingerie brand, today it’s also a home for my work as a stylist and designer, where I direct campaigns, develop concepts, and express my aesthetic with no limitations. Through my work, I carry the essence and cultural richness of my country into a new context, merging authenticity, softness, and strength.

Starting my own business wasn’t just a career move. It was a way to build a platform where I could fully express the layers of my vision as a creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come in such a short time, especially while navigating a new culture and bringing my own culture into everything I do. I’ve achieved a lot, and I’m on a really good path, seeing the results of my dedication and constant drive to make things happen. That’s what excites me the most knowing that my hard work consistently leads to great results.

No, it hasn’t been easy. Every day comes with its own battles, and the key is to stay consistent and keep moving forward. It’s especially challenging when you’re learning a new culture and language and trying to share your own culture through your work or products. In today’s fast-paced world, that’s no simple task, but it’s always worth it.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way is that every day is an opportunity to move forward, even if it’s just by taking small steps. Not every day will be filled with motivation or energy, and that’s okay. On those days, it’s important to do at least one or two small things that keep you on track. I’ve also learned that it’s essential to take time for yourself when you’re not feeling your best. To rest and reconnect mentally, spiritually, and physically so that you can return even stronger the next day.

What I hope the world understands about me is that I believe deeply in the power of self-love. When we truly embrace and love ourselves, we make choices that reflect our worth, and we surround ourselves with positivity. Through my work, I aim to help people feel good about who they are and how they present themselves to the world.

At the core of everything I do is dedication. I am deeply committed to my clients, my craft, and my own growth. This dedication is what drives me to listen, to create, and to keep pushing forward, always striving to reach my goals and to help others shine.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m someone who enjoys a more relaxed and refined atmosphere, so when I have friends visiting, I love taking them to places that reflect that vibe. We might start with a visit to a beautiful rooftop like the Soho House, where we can enjoy great food, drinks, and an amazing view. For a fantastic dining experience, I’d definitely include The Nice Guy for its great food and drinks, as well as Forma near Santa Monica for some amazing Italian cuisine. I also love exploring local food fairs, where you get to taste dishes from different cultures, which is always so interesting and fun. Of course, no trip would be complete without a relaxing day at the beach, especially in Santa Monica, where we can soak up the sun and enjoy the ocean breeze. And if we’re in the mood for some culture, visiting museums or art galleries is always a wonderful option.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. Since I was a little girl, she has always supported my creativity. From the moment I started drawing, she would tell me I had a gift and that I should pursue it. That kind of encouragement, especially at such a young and formative age, made all the difference. Her belief in me gave me the confidence to believe in myself.

And to this day, she continues to be my biggest supporter. She always offers her love, strength, and guidance whenever I need it. Having a mother who stands by me through every stage of life is a blessing I’ll always be deeply grateful for.
