Meet Karina Belisario | Makeup Artist & Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina Belisario and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karina, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
It was to make my younger self proud of going for my dreams. Of not stopping and settling for a 9-5, I’ve always been so passionate about artistry and i felt like I was never good enough to “make it” I had to believe in myself & literally give myself pep talks about how amazing I was, even tho I didn’t think I can make it at the time. I’m so glad I did and my perseverance didn’t stop.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love being an artist, evolving and always learning. What sets me apart from other Artist is the passion and commitment to wanting to grow & perfecting my craft, I love! Love what I do! It doesn’t even feel like work to me, lol. If I go a couple days without doing some kind of artistry with makeup or hair I find myself down, it’s truly my happy place. I’m so proud of we’re I am now. I’m excited for the future to be a mentor to other artist starting their dreams, showing them the ropes to this industry. It’s hard but so fulfilled if it’s something you love. Getting here wasn’t easy, it was a lot of self growth and believing in myself. Networking with other artist that helped me along the way. Not giving up or settling with a job I wasn’t fulfilling my heart with. That persistence was real! It took a lot of years, but I made it. I learned a lot of lessons thru the years that showed me to be gentle with myself, and patient. If you keep taking a step forward you’ll end up at the destination you always dreamed about.
I want you to take this and go for your dreams go for what fluffing to your heart. if it’s something inside you that you wish for and dream about take those steps every day. It’s truly so blissful to wake up and do what you love every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to the beach, I’m a OC girl. Grew up there and I love the beaches. So we would definitely be hitting Laguna beach, Newport, Huntington & my favorite corona del mar. We would eat sushi and I love a good fish & chips. Then we would stop by at the happiest place on earth, Disneyland! Because why not!? lol then we would make it back to LA taking her to go see the Hollywood stars & be tourist. I’ll end in the IE and take a couple cool hiking trails I know of.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family! All the way have always been there for me. From my parents pushing me to be great! To my Husband supporting me every step of the way. My little sister, being my cheerleader. I just want to thank them for always believing in me, when I didn’t believe in myself. Omg! My friends too! For always being a listening ear and given me encouraging words all the time. It’s thanks to you, for loving me and supporting me with everything in life.
