We had the good fortune of connecting with Karo Martirosyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karo, how do you think about risk?
When I first started Karo Studios in 2014, choosing art as my main source of income was a huge risk. I had walked away from a lucrative management career to pursue what I love, but I knew that there was going to be a great deal of risk that came with that decision. Unfortunately risk is a huge part of growth and there will never be impactful growth without a certain level of risk.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Karo Studios is a luxury design studio specializing in 3D glass and metal wall sculptures. I custom create each piece once a commission is placed. With a rear welded steel structure holding up the different glass tiles on various elevations, we are able to create dynamic yet harmonious compositions that can elevate any space they are hung in.
It took many years of work to perfect the craft and many networking opportunities throughout the journey to get the studio to where it is at today. The path was definitely not easy, but very rewarding. When challenges came up throughout the journey, I always found a way to overcome them. Some had easy solutions while others required time and a change in approach.
Breaking down the challenges to smaller more digestible pieces made getting to the solution a whole lot easier.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As I love road trips, I would take them out to Santa Barbara on a day trip.
Las Vegas, Palm Springs and San Diego would also be great road trip ideas.
If we were to stay local, I would definitely take them out to Malibu.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my architectural education for my success today. Even though I am not practicing architecture today, my educational background has served a great deal in how I approach my designs. Architecture essentially teaches you how to problem solve and that knowledge can be applied to many different aspects of life.
