We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasseem & Michelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kasseem & Michelle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind our success at Burn 60 is the positive and supportive culture we’ve built to make this the best hour of your day when you walk through the doors. From day one, we’ve prioritized creating a welcoming environment where everyone, regardless of fitness level or experience, feels empowered to succeed.

We, as the owners, are deeply invested in each member’s progress, offering a very personal experience and true care in and out of the gym – whether it’s a quick check-in or learning more about their lives and getting to know their families. There’s a sense of camaraderie and accountability, where clients lift each other up and celebrate each other’s wins.

This supportive atmosphere has transformed the gym into more than just a place to work out—it’s a family. We believe that success comes when people feel they belong and are supported on their journey. That’s the heart of our brand, and it’s what drives us to continue growing and helping others become a better version of themselves.

What should our readers know about your business?
At its core, Burn 60’s mission is to help and serve others. Our business is built on a simple but powerful foundation: putting our clients first. What sets us apart is our commitment to personalization and individual care. We believe that every person’s fitness journey is unique, which is why we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach but rather meet each individual client where they’re at when they come to us.

We’re most proud of the family we’ve built. Our focus on client-first service means that every member feels valued and supported from the moment they walk through our doors. We’ve created an environment where people aren’t just showing up to exercise; they’re coming to be part of a team that motivates and encourages each other.

Getting to where we are today wasn’t easy. There were countless challenges, from finding a space and building it out to maintaining it to learning the ins and outs of finance, marketing, sales and every little thing that goes into owning a business. Ultimately, each day presents new challenges and what happens in the business is your responsibility. You have to try and fail consistently until you figure out what works, which can be an inherently challenging (and exciting) concept.

Everyday, we make a conscious decision to keep going, no matter what obstacles we face. It can feel almost impossible to get over some of the hurdles that owning a small business throws at you, but the decision to keep pushing is a constant, active one we make each day, driven by the true passion and love for what we do.

Some of the biggest lessons we’ve learned along the way include the importance of building genuine relationships with people and the power of staying true to our mission. Oh and that you have to take action, fail a few times, be fine with it, and on to the next.

What we want the world to know about us is simple: we’re here to make fitness personal, approachable, and FUN for everyone, no matter where they are in their journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week in LA means some scenic hikes, delicious food, lots of time at the beach, some sight-seeing and even some workouts at Burn 60, of course. Some of the places we’d take them:

Beaches: Venice, Will Rogers, El Matador in Malibu, Manhattan Beach

Sights and activities: Hollywood sign, Getty, Hollywood Blvd & the Hollywood Bowl, Venice canals to the boardwalk for some serious people-watching, LACMA

Hikes: Griffith Park, Runyon Canyon, Topanga State Park, Bridge to Nowhere, Wisdom Tree / Hollywood Sign

Food: Blu Jam Cafe, Kings Road Cafe, 26Beach, Fratelli Cafe, Cofax for breakfast burritos, Monty’s, Ospi, Scopa, Sushi Enya, Crudo E Nudo, Baja California Tacos (orange salsa is a must), Ginger’s Ice Cream, Ubatuba Acai

There’s something for everyone!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Owning a small business is definitely a challenge and not possible without support along the way. Our decision to work with a mentorship group, business coaches like Vince, Joe and Tom, and to surround ourselves with other gym owners who have had the type of success we envision for ourselves, has definitely been a game-changer.

We definitely want to extend a thank you to Janet as well, for creating this special brand and passing the torch.

Last but not least, our families and friends who are always cheering us on and of course our clients, who trust us and keep us excited to keep doing what we do.
