Hi Katerina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
With a confluence of talents stemming from a background in acting, education in fine arts, and influence from a mother who works in fashion design, photography came naturally to me. My unique ability to direct individuals into a particular pose or position allows me to capture that one, breathtaking moment that tells a story and connects with viewers. My ultimate goal is to create photographs that can stand the test of time and effectively communicate the emotions and narrative I aim to convey.

In 2018, I embarked on my photography journey by enrolling in courses at my local university and accepting any gig that came my way. With perseverance and hard work, I earned my stripes in the industry. Over time, my focus shifted towards luxury weddings and fashion editorials, where I found my true passion. Through these specialized niches, I have refined my skills and developed a keen eye for capturing the essence of beauty and sophistication. Today, I am proud to say that my name is synonymous with delivering exceptional quality and stunning visual storytelling in these areas.

As a freelance photographer, my next logical step was to establish my business and make Los Angeles my base of operations. For over two years now, I have called Downtown Los Angeles my headquarters and assembled a small team of creative individuals to collaborate with. While wedding photography provides a reliable income stream, my true passion lies in acting, and I am constantly seeking opportunities to work with fellow actors on fashion editorial shoots. By immersing myself in this creative community, I have found fulfillment in my craft and established a niche in the market.

People often remark that my photography has a unique ability to capture individuals in an authentic and luxurious light, which I take as a compliment. laughs It is my ultimate goal to showcase my subjects’ best qualities while maintaining their natural essence. By achieving this delicate balance, I can produce visually stunning images that not only impress but also resonate with viewers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

As a Fine Artist, I view photography as a medium to capture the natural essence of my subjects. My approach is to eschew flashy colors or high fashion gimmicks and instead, focus on portraying the individual’s innate beauty. To achieve this, I take time to connect with my subjects, building a rapport that helps me to capture them in their most authentic state. Through this connection, I strive to produce images that reflect not only the subject’s physical attributes but also their personality and soul. By creating photographs that evoke a sense of intimacy, I hope to give my audience a glimpse into the individual’s world and inspire them to see the beauty in everyday life.

My photography style has been described as timeless, a quality I strive to achieve by showcasing my subject’s true personality. When individuals feel comfortable enough to reveal their authentic selves, I can capture their essence and make it shine through my work.

My aesthetic can be described as vintage, classical with a modern twist, and infused with a sense of vulnerability and value. By value, I do not mean monetary, but rather, I have a unique ability to elevate my subjects’ refinement and luxury. Through my lens, I can reveal the true beauty and worth of individuals that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

As a Taiwanese foodie, I have high standards when it comes to cuisine. I often reminisce about the delicious food found throughout Taiwan, which truly offers an array of delectable dishes. Whenever friends visit me, I always take them to my go-to spot for cocktails, the Freehand Downtown, where I personally enjoy the refreshing Yuzu Gin.

Recently, I was introduced to a charming Vegan Food and Juice bar located just a short drive from Downtown. It reminded me of the trendy vibe found in West Hollywood, but with a unique community feel. It’s now my go-to lunch spot when entertaining friends who prefer a plant-based diet.

For dinner, I typically venture out to indulge in Chinese Spicy Hot Pot, where meats and veggies are cooked in a bubbling, spicy broth and complemented by a personalized sauce made at the sauce bar. This experience can be a cultural shock for those unfamiliar with it, but it’s a must-try for any adventurous foodie.

Overall, I am always eager to try new things and explore different locations. Los Angeles has so much to offer, and I am excited to continue discovering all of its hidden gems.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My journey has been filled with its fair share of ups and downs, but I know that I wouldn’t have made it this far without the unwavering support of my dear friends who have witnessed my growth and stood by me through it all. I am eternally grateful for their emotional and creative encouragement throughout the years. However, I must give special thanks to my partner who has been my pillar of strength, pushing me to new heights and giving me the space and freedom to pursue our collective dreams together. Their unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of inspiration and motivation.
