We had the good fortune of connecting with Katharine Story and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katharine, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Passion plays a giant part in my success. Because I am interested in bringing more beauty and creatvity to my life and the lives of othrs. I am curious about everything and how i can relate it to my brand and share nd inspire my community. Passion has kept me going when things have been tough. It has helped me find a new way, create a newf ormula for something that became obsoete. Passion for fashion and art has kept me in this industry because I absolutly LOVE it ! Inspiration in what other artists and creatives are doing keeps my spirit in an ever evolving state. To see how that spirit moves through so many different accpects of life is INSPIRING!!!!!

Now! this must be tied with the practicality of human ethics. Working smart and treating the world around you with integrity – but also, doing everything possible to make it happen. Finding mentors,or studying tjose you are inspired by and what lead to their success.

For me if I didnt have enough passion for what i am doing i would have moved on to something else. Passion for tis business i created has kept me in the game.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I come from a amily of artists and i do feel that fashion and clothing is my medium. I never give up. I continue to keep producing and being in my studio or boutique, especially alone seems to inspire the muse. I have great discipline and learned early on with encouragement o keep going with my art – i have rarely left my studio without completig somehimg I started and always push myself to do my best and improve. I have a theory which i used to say to my son (now 33) that its about you and you – you look in your eyes in the mirror and know where you ripped yorself off. It has helped to keep me accountable to myself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
in the area of Laguna Beach?! I also live in Miami , thats why I ask! I would take them to Woods Cove beach during the week (weekend too crowded) Then we could go with sandy feet and wet hair and have a drink – probably the surf and sand, go home for a quick change and then dinner somewhere in town. On another day I would take them up the coast to go to themost beautiful boutique Amaree’s and then over to Lido Isle for lunch, shopping and ?! On another day I would sugest DTLA and Santee Street and some of the amazing galleries in the Arts Districr. Then lets go check in ayt the Chateau Marmont, have dinner and drinks and spend another day or two exploring LA’s galleries and museums. Then hit it to Santa Monica and Venice and spontaneously stop for lunch and enjoy the ride home on the PCH!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Shoutout goes to my ever expanding spiritual connection and the ime I cultivate to keep me believing and working on the inside as well as the outaide. My teacher is Jesus….. my favorite teaching that has helped and guided me is “do unto others”
