We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Rodriguez Aka LA Kaliente and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katherine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I created Blue Strips to provide a platform for not only branding myself but for aspiring models to gain experience on the cat walk and in photography. A foundation for growth and development. Women uniting for a bigger purpose, a bigger picture for success, wealth & prosperity.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m dropping my first single called “Waves” 2-22-2022 on all major platforms. I’ll be having a video release party for the single next month in down town la, at this very dope venue called New vibe Studio. You’re all welcome to pop out, so stay tuned to my Instagram stories for updates! It’s going to be a Movie!

I originally began music with intent on telling my story, my side of things, it was therapy to me. I wanted to let people know how I felt. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. This world wants to relate, they want something that makes them feel good. I learned to gear my words, my demeanor towards a simpler way that the general population would understand. I started with trap music then years later I realized I should use who I am to my advantage. That’s when I began doing Latin trap and reggae-ton. It creates a lane for the culture and the people. That is way more powerful and influential than the American dream. I want to build hope in places, countries where there is none. Where day after day you eat the same thing, do the same things, where you think there’s nothing else? There is! There’s a whole world out there, I want to be what people look up to and see there can be a way to rise above oppression, poverty and hardship.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love when my out of state friends visit me in Los Angeles! I get way too excited. So, first I’d take them to Hollywood because everyone wants to see the Hollywood sign and the stars on the ground! In Hollywood, I like eating at either Cabo cantina,Tekila or of course Bossa Nova. Off sunset, I like Pink taco and Saddle ranch! For the night life sunset room Hollywood is always live action! Grey stone is exciting as well and I like going to the gasolina parties normally at Avalon in Hollywood with my girlfriend cc love, she’s the best Dj! Malibu and Venice is always a hit too! Girls in California have more fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been doing music for ten years now. The fashion aspect was brought about relatively over a year ago at the end of 2020, when I created my Llc for Blue Strips clothing and Apparel. My motivation stems from being a single mother raising a son and coming from a 3rd world country where my apt is a palace compared to the living conditions in Latin America. I give credit to the people who I trusted that took advantage of me, that is what pushed me to be independent and fight for what I believe in. The ungrateful, deceitful and all who pray on my downfall are my motivation to build a legacy for my family and prosper beyond imaginable lengths.

I’ll be dropping a music single soon!
