We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathryn Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kathryn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I actually resisted starting my own business for a while. The Queen of Wards was something that I started for fun. It was like my hobby. I really waited a while before decided to turn it into an actual business, because I was afraid that it wouldn’t be ‘fun’ anymore. Ultimately, I finally went all in because I really love helping people. Some people become lawyers or doctors, being an intuitive is my way to help people in society. When it became ‘real’, I decided that my business will first and foremost always be fun. I’m not here to people please or give people what I think they will want. Being authentic is very important to me, especially with my business.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Queen of Wards is my intuitive business where I offer tarot and mediumship readings, reiki healing, and intuitive coaching. I started this business because a few years ago I started my spiritual journey where my world was turned upside-down. It seemed like everything that I had been working towards my whole life wasn’t important anymore. I was in a job where I grinded 5 days a week (and sometimes weekends), I was in a toxic unfulfilling relationship, and I wasn’t fully present in my life by any means. Honestly, I thought that was how everyone felt. I though ‘this is as good as it gets’. That’s when I decided to really dive into deep spiritual healing and I realized that my life didn’t have to feel this way.

That’s when I decided to get a new job, move across the country to California, and dedicate time to discover what my soul needed. During this time, I really dived into my core beliefs, what my family or society had been projecting on me my whole life, and rebuilt myself from the ground up. It was not easy to say the least; there were a lot of beliefs that I have had since I was young including, “I’m not good enough”, “my value is in productivity”, and “my opinion doesn’t matter”, that had to be broken down and replaced with a new belief.

That’s what my business is centered around. Identifying those limiting beliefs that an individual may that is preventing them from reaching their goals and desires. It’s really tough to do this work on your own, so I provide the intuitive guidance and support to those individuals who feel called to work with me. I find it is easier and more comforting to be supported by someone who has been through the same things.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I feel like this is so basic, but anytime someone visits me, we spend all our time at the beach. All my friends are coming from the East Coast, so I show them the Cali outdoor lifestyle. Beach days and hikes fill most of our time. Also, while they are here, I make sure to take them to a sound bath so that they can recharge their energy.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to thank Anna Saez for telling me that I am intuitive and for encouraging me to grow. I would also like to thank Nicole Diaz for helping my really learn about my intuition so I could get to this point in my career. Lastly, I would like to thank Jessica Lystlund for encouraging me to authentically be myself and to do the damn thing!
