We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathy Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kathy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Since I was young my love and passion for fashion have always been fervent; I loved sketching, designing, and creating my artistic visions. My passions led me to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Downtown LA where my knowledge and love for design grew deeper. I graduated with a degree in fashion merchandise marketing which opened multiple opportunities for me. After graduating I worked with various designers and their unique collections gaining experience with designing and marketing. As years passed I became a stay-at-home mom and shifted my focus to raising my children however my passion never faded. At home, I started my own jewelry line and directed my creative abilities towards that. After a few years of doing that, I found myself unfulfilled and longing for something new and that is when I discovered microblading. Microblading allows me to utilize my skills of creativity and design to achieve unique hair-like strokes for each and every one of my clients. This career has left me feeling most content because it allows me not only to create a bond and friendship with my clients but also grants me the opportunity to fulfill my client’s concerns.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, let us dive into what microblading really is. Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo that mimics the look of hair-like strokes while enhancing your natural eyebrows for a fuller look. Firstly, we numb the client to ensure their comfort and allow this process to be painless. I then start by sketching the eyebrow with a pencil and working with my client to achieve a shape they are happy with that suits their facial symmetry. Then we work together to choose a color pigment to use that will best compliment their skin tone and natural hair color. Then we start with the process by using a  blade that is composed of 18 little needles that scratch the surface of the skin while embedding pigment to create the hair-like strokes of the eyebrow. My career is extremely important to me, I love that it is a collaborative experience between my clients and me. During the process, we communicate to make sure they are happy and comfortable as well as meeting their desires.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to try different foods from various cultures some of my favorites include Mediterranean food and sushi. Working in Studio City has multiple benefits to it, one being the delicious restaurants on Ventura Boulevard. My favorite spots to go to either after work with my coworkers or to grab dinner with some of my friends would be Olive and Grill and Yume Sushi Bar. Both places have delicious food, great service, and a great ambiance, they are perfect for a night out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout would most definitely have to go to my father. My father always had a passion for creative design, he was a jewelry designer. As a child, I was mesmerized by watching him create and design unique pieces that he would then show off to me and my sisters. He always provided me with unconditional love and support and allowed me to follow my passions. Until today, my father is my number one supporter.
