We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Raee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ever since I can remember, I’ve always had a creative outlook and perspective, so I decided to dive into it and embrace being a creative butterfly versus fearing it. As a kid, I always wanted to be involved in anything that would allow me to create and express myself.
So once, I realized that I was able to create in various areas and forms, effortlessly bring a concept/vision to reality, and had a unique pov that most people wouldn’t even dream of. It became crystal clear that I was meant to be a creator and entrepreneur.
What should our readers know about your business?
In 2018, I decided to test the waters by starting my own beauty brand, Kaylaraee Lashes that was later rebranded to Avenue Kay. I lost so much money due to inventory and manufacturer costs that I couldn’t enjoy the big moments that were constantly happening for that company. Big moments like the lashes being featured in a BET & WETV series, worn by celebrities like Summer Walker, Tami Roman, etc, and featured in magazines. From the social media perspective you would of assumed the business was making so much money but in reality I always felt like no matter what I was doing it was never enough!
Honestly, starting and running that company for 3 years made me realize that I loved the creative and marketing process that went into creating campaigns and curating content that people crave on socials.
So that is when I ultimately decided to open Clique The Agency in 2022.
At Clique The Agency, we pride ourselves on curating tailored specific content for our clients that their communities will never get enough of! We absolutely use a millennial and gen-z approach with all of the services that we offer; content creation, social media management, influencer outreach/marketing, creator coaching and mentoring, etc.
Now, I’m at a place where I am not only passionate but extremely happy with the business I have created and can’t wait till we are as big as Apple, The Kardashians, Amazon, The Lakers…. With the opening of our studio location in Los Angeles coming just around the corner, I’m already planning and preparing for the next city and location.
At Clique The Studio, you will be able to book our studio at a hourly/daily rate to create all the content you need in a bright-luxury and multi-use space all to yourself. Or, you can always book our in house photographer to conduct the shoot for you.
Lastly, don’t forget about Not Cliquebait The Podcast, a safe place for all creators and entrepreneurs where we don’t GATEKEEP anything!
I am so grateful and thankful for my journey and beyond excited for all to come!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If the clique girlies were visiting Los Angeles, it would of course be one for the books! During the week, we would start our morning off by taking a hike on runyon canyon, go grabbed juices and breakfast at any of the cute little spots in the area, go get cute, make content and go experience different things in the city. I love going to the Ole Henriksen spa to get the best facials ever, eating at any of my favorite rooftop restaurants (the Wayfarer downtown), go shopping at The Grove or on Rodeo, go to a networking event, go to a beach or pier at night….. The opportunities are literally endless!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I would like to thank my mom, twin brother, grandma, and the rest of my family for all of the unwavering support, constant push, and enlightenment throughout my journey. Especially since I chose at such a young age a non-traditional path and trust it hasn’t been a smooth and easy road.
It is because of my solidified support system that I keep going and know it is okay to fail as long as I don’t let the failures consume my mind and body. They always remind me anything is possible and to never quit!
