We had the good fortune of connecting with Keefer Glenshaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keefer, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance has tipped exponentially to the former. I am constantly working on my music and my art, 24/7. It is most of what I think about, and I view the world differently because of it. Abandoned buildings turn into performance venues, a thought becomes a lyric, a droning siren a symphony. Music envelopes all in a loving saturation, and I am lucky to see the world through such a lense.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a cellist and artist. I perform and collaborate constantly, record, and make original alternative music. I am releasing an album, ‘Purity,’ on September 30th, 2024- I wrote, recorded, and produced it myself. I also am a performance artist, and played for 24 hours straight in an exhibit entitled ‘Purification Process.’

None of this was easy, but nothing worthwhile is. I have worked hard and consistently for many years, and plan to continue this forever. After playing my instrument for 12 of 20 years, I’ve found that there is constantly more to learn, and that one will never achieve technical mastery. I’ve overcome this universal truth that deters many by realizing that this mastery is not the point of art, music, or anything. The point is in creation. That is the impetus to this album, and to all the art I make.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out Mitchell Cohen. He started out as my teacher, and now has become my mentor, my collaborator. And my friend. I have come to him with countless cockamamie ideas, and he has met each one with an even better plan. He is a brilliant person, and I can’t thank him enough.
