We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelley Raleigh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelley, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I actually never wanted to start my own business. I didn’t think it was for me. But when I began my journey using NeurOptimal, it was so clear that this was for everyone and I wanted to make sure everyone I knew got to try it. So I bought a NeurOptimal machine in the summer of 2019 and just starting using it on myself, my family and any friends who were willing. Starting this business was much easier than I expected since I didn’t have inventory to unload or something to make. I had one machine and people paid for sessions. Pretty straight forward. I have since expanded my offers to include red light therapy and an infared sauna, coaching and retreats, but it is still service based. The reason I wanted to share NeurOptimal with everyone I could is to support people becoming more present in their lives and move away from anxiety and depression. I think it is great that we can talk about mental health issues now, but I do not see real solutions being offered. In my experience, meds, microdosing, drinking alochol, etc is all masking our issues. Sometimes talk therapy sends people into circles and does not have a real resolution. Brain training with NeurOptimal gives real results and supports the brain to do what it was designed to do, work efficiently and adapt to real life situations. We have become so scared of feelings and communicating authentically that we have shoved everything down for so long. Consistent brain training gives long term results that bring us present to our life instead of living worried about the future or guilty of the past.
Watching client after client receive amazing benefits and shift patterns in their lives and heal relationships (even if it is just with themselves) is why I created this business,
For me, I needed to be in a business that I am passionate about, that I use on myself and is of service to the world. That may not be everyone’s goals, but that is how I wake up every day enthusiastic about what I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I knew I always wanted to be of service, mostly working with children. As a college student, I began working with kids from single parent families. I had no idea how much I would learn from these families. One thing I am passionate about is raising healthy and happy humans. When I became a mother, it all came flooding forward into one focus, respect the human that I just delivered and see him as a fully formed human from day one. It was different than I was raised and what I saw in my professional career. How does this pertain to my business you ask? I want everyone to feel respected and valued. Many of my clients have not felt that especially as children. So if I can support them in experiencing that, I will have done my job. It will also get passed down to their offspring and the people they are around. This is how we shift the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in the city are less obvious than the usual places people go. We would start the mornings with a quiet hike in Mandeville Canyon with a full 360 degree view, then have proper french croissants from La Tropizianne on La Brea. We would spend the day in Malibu at the beach and eat at the taco truck in Topanga Canyon. Of course we would hit the farmers market on Sunday morning in Brentwood before we rode bikes on the boardwalk in Santa Monica. There would definitely be dinner and drinks at The Edition Rooftop and Ardor.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that have supported me along the way. I think the most impactful influence has been from John-Roger, my spiritual teacher. I also learned so much from Ron & Mary Hulnik, from the University of Santa Monica. All three individuals have given me a perspective of radical self responsibility. That I create, promote and allow all things in my life. It is a very freeing place to live from.
